A mixture of coy, self-effacing presentation and toe-curlingly naive political opinion. The combination of low intellectual ability and the outrageous power of a broadcasting microphone is hugely dangerous and inevitably damaging on a wide front. These people long ago stopped simply reporting the news. They now interpret and regurgitate the news in whatever form they believe we should receive it. We are universally offered opinion, not news, apparently saving us any requirement to think for ourselves. The arrogance of this fundamental left-wing perspective is as staggering to me as it is unacceptable. Personal freedom was essentially extinguished with the madness of the 1960's and for most no longer exists in this country. Instead, the system produces supercilious bastards like Nicky Campbell to lead us by the nose and tell us what to think. I hope Nicky Campbell gets sacked for this. He deserves to. But someone EXACTLY like him will take his place and spout the same opinionated drivel every single day. But that was ... 12 years ago. That's another symptom of the problem. We've substituted emotion for knowledge. The currency of judgement is now whether we 'like' someone like Campbell, when it would be entirely more appropriate to think whether we admire or respect them.
