McLeish resigns , Cuellar ???????

Eck doesn't really come out of this one smelling of roses. When they got relegated he was quite sure he was going to stay.

Mind you, it's not the first time he's said one thing then u-turned shortly afterwards.

He walked out on Scotland as well....hope he ends up on the dole will serve him right.

ps: when he was with 'Gers he got lucky - the two titles he won were so close, 2003 because the bheasts had a UEFA Cup Final days before and the 2005 title was thanks to Scott McDonald of Motherwell. Our worst EVER run of games without a win was under his leadership - ELEVEN!

Sorry, but I think the guy will end up back in the spl within a couple of years, maybe with his old club Aberdeen.

You are aware we have won the last three SPL titles by the skin of our teeth?

It does appear to be a bit oppotunistic, but that's football I suppose. I'm sure if Villa want him they'll pay the compensation, I'd have expected that to be the case in any case.

The 2009/10 title wasn't the rest were, but we showed up when it was needed most in the final games of the season by beating our opponents quite comfortably and not making it squeeky bum time.

I didn't think this would be the right choice for many reasons:

1) Eck managed Birmingham, Villa's rivals

2) I was actually surprised he kept his job the owner of Birmingham is a person you can never be sure about

3) Why did he resign Villa fans wouldn't take to him

4) What other jobs are about?

I don't mind Eck but he brought some awful players to our team and brought us a third place, one very sour point on a reasonable spell as manager.

Also, I think that the year before we had the title wrapped up with 3 games to go. I particulary remember Motherwell getting a draw at Ibrox in the last game of the season, due to some really, really dodgy refereeing decisions.

Seems fair enough. If managers can receive a huge pay off when they are dismissed due to their contract then it works both ways. He can't just expect to walk into another job without giving them compensation.

I agree with this. Additionally the board have started to back him and signed 1 or 2 players since the relegation. If a new man comes in and doesnt want these players its cost the club needless money.
