Bears 0
Would hardly say he's played a blinder, but he's yet to do much that I would criticise. Just in the door and whilst the transfer window has thus far been less fruitful than I would like I will wait until it closes before panicking or even attacking the new chairman. Bit of a not proven verdict so far for me. Players not signing is not his or Rangers fault though?
Super_Ally 0
Players not signing is not his or Rangers fault though? Totally agree with that mate. Well obviously it can be his or the clubs fault, but I dont have any issues with those who haven't signed in respect of Whyte and the club's side of negotiations in the current window.

Yeah mate, i'd be cheesed if we had adopted the "Fuck it, give them what they want and the wages he wants" to a few players. That's what got us in the soup before, as we all know
bluebear54 0
I've got no complaints whatsoever so far. I still think we'll end up with some good new players, a good run in the CL and 4 in a row. So there.
Guest Dutchy
I've not been happy about hearing that we only offered £200,000 and £200,000 add-ons for Rodriguez, which doesn't inspire me with confidence. I'm willing to agree with Whyte that this is a difficult and tricky time, merely because the SPL and our need to play in the CL is so much more earlier than the other 'higher' leagues have to contend with, but we need to be serious with our bids, if we hope to be treated seriously. Obviously, the wages come out of this 'extra' money offered for transfer targets, as well as the fee, but I'd say we can still get a few good players in for say £10 million and a couple of loan deals perhaps. I just wish it was happening now, as a comment from Naismith in the very same newspaper had great relavence to me was: "Any new player has to get used to the surroundings so the quicker the better".
Bears 0
I've always took it as the transfer money is just that, for transfers, not wages
Guest Dutchy
I've always took it as the transfer money is just that, for transfers, not wages I think in the Mail it did say wages as well, but I was drinking when I read it, so that could be total shite, just like my memory, but I was convinced that she loved me for my looks and not my money. Is this the right thread? lol
der Berliner 3,716
Why would we offer more for an untried Spanish 23-year old who has so far plied his trade in their second division? And it's not a Barca player we are talking about. Of course, we only get filtered news anyways ...
ian1964 10,720
CRAIG WHYTE expects Rangers manager Ally McCoist will secure at least TWO more players within the next 48 hours to beat Thursday's signing deadline for their Champions League qualifier against Malmo or Torshavn Rangers owner Craig Whyte has told fans that many more millions have been allocated to the transfer kitty to land priority targets in time for the European clashes. Agreement is expected today on another season long loan deal for Arsenal's Kyle Bartley to return to Rangers and a final decision is wanted over the future of former star defender Carlos Cuellar whose agent held talks with Spanish side Espanyol at the weekend raising fears he would prefer to go back home. Last night Whyte revealed that if all the offers tabled for new additions came to fruition the bill for getting their signatures and wages would total around £18m .... significantly more than the original £5m first season budget . The extra investment though is the least of his concerns as he is determined to retain the SPL Title for a fourth consecutive time and qualify automatically for next season's Champions League Group stages which could recoup that figure at a stroke. ¬ We are not panicking but we do want to get new players in this week ® Craig Whyte "We are not panicking but we do want to get new players in this week." he said " There are no guarantees when you go into the transfer market but the resources are in place to secure the players we want before the 21st of this month. "Ally and Gordon Smith are working very hard to close the deals . The next 48 hours are going to be important regarding a number of the targets we want to add to the squad and I would expect decisions on several of them by Monday night. "We are well down the line with several of them but if one or two fall by the wayside then we will move on to the next player Ally believes can strengthen the side .What we won't be doing is signing for the sake of making up the numbers. "We need to get the right people in and I'm sure that will happen." Whyte revealed however that some reports and rumours of possible purchases such as AC Milan's Rino Gattuso and Greek full back Georgios Tzavellas were wide of the mark . McCoist meanwhile is waiting for an answer from Arsene Wenger about Arsenal stopper Bartley. The club has refused to sell him outright to Rangers but hopes are high that another loan deal can be struck today. While a £2m fee with Aston Villa has been agreed for Cuellar who won't be fit until the middle of next month at the earliest , his £40,000 a week personal terms remain an issue and the interest of Espanyol and Villareal has muddied the waters further. "I've spoken to Carlos and he seems keen to come. It's up to us to thrash a deal out now. You'd have to ask Carlos if wages are going to be a problem. I can't answer that." said McCoist . The new boss is however thrilled to see skipper David Weir sign a new one-year deal at the weekend before the 4- 1 win over Linfield in Belfast and now hopes key midfielder Steven Davis, 26, will join the 41-year-old in agreeing an extension. He said: "Davie has signed. I thrust a pen in his hand and we're pleased that it's done. But getting Davis signed up is as important as anything." Weir said : "The manager was honest and told me that he was trying to get players in and that there would be competition, but I welcome that. "You want a challenge to keep you on your toes and make sure you are always striving to perform at your best. "Carlos would give that because he's top class. He was only up here for a season but everybody saw how good he was that year so we'd obviously love to have him back. "People know what we would be getting with Carlos, there is no real mystery to it and that is a big thing in favour of the move. It's definitely an area the manager is looking to add to and if we want players to improve the squad Carlos is certainly one that would fit that bill." http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/259583/Craig-Whyte-digs-deep-and-predicts-signings-at-the-double-
