Just in the door and whilst the transfer window has thus far been less fruitful than I would like I will wait until it closes before panicking or even attacking the new chairman. Yeah mate, i'd be cheesed if we had adopted the "Fuck it, give them what they want and the wages he wants" to a few players. Guest Dutchy Posted July 17, 2011 Share Posted July 17, 2011 I've not been happy about hearing that we only offered �£200,000 and �£200,000 add-ons for Rodriguez, which doesn't inspire me with confidence. I'm willing to agree with Whyte that this is a difficult and tricky time, merely because the SPL and our need to play in the CL is so much more earlier than the other 'higher' leagues have to contend with, but we need to be serious with our bids, if we hope to be treated seriously. Obviously, the wages come out of this 'extra' money offered for transfer targets, as well as the fee, but I'd say we can still get a few good players in for say �£10 million and a couple of loan deals perhaps. I just wish it was happening now, as a comment from Naismith in the very same newspaper had great relavence to me was: "Any new player has to get used to the surroundings so the quicker the better". 0 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Agreement is expected today on another season long loan deal for Arsenal's Kyle Bartley to return to Rangers and a final decision is wanted over the future of former star defender Carlos Cuellar whose agent held talks with Spanish side Espanyol at the weekend raising fears he would prefer to go back home. Last night Whyte revealed that if all the offers tabled for new additions came to fruition the bill for getting their signatures and wages would total around �£18m .... significantly more than the original �£5m first season budget . McCoist meanwhile is waiting for an answer from Arsene Wenger about Arsenal stopper Bartley. The club has refused to sell him outright to Rangers but hopes are high that another loan deal can be struck today. While a �£2m fee with Aston Villa has been agreed for Cuellar who won't be fit until the middle of next month at the earliest , his �£40,000 a week personal terms remain an issue and the interest of Espanyol and Villareal has muddied the waters further. "I've spoken to Carlos and he seems keen to come. It's up to us to thrash a deal out now. You'd have to ask Carlos if wages are going to be a problem. I can't answer that." said McCoist . The new boss is however thrilled to see skipper David Weir sign a new one-year deal at the weekend before the 4- 1 win over Linfield in Belfast and now hopes key midfielder Steven Davis, 26, will join the 41-year-old in agreeing an extension. He said: "Davie has signed. I thrust a pen in his hand and we're pleased that it's done.But getting Davis signed up is as important as anything." Weir said : "The manager was honest and told me that he was trying to get players in and that there would be competition, but I welcome that. "You want a challenge to keep you on your toes and make sure you are always striving to perform at your best. "Carlos would give that because he's top class.He was only up here for a season but everybody saw how good he was that year so we'd obviously love to have him back.
