Just seen this and thought I'd pass it on. Even although some of us might not completely agree with everything in it, it's still an interesting read.....

Never A Greater Need For Unity

Itâ??s been a stormy few days for Rangers Football Club, with the Daily Recordâ??s â??revelationsâ? on the management of the club by Craig Whyte.

The allegations made by the Record are serious, and have clearly been worked on/sat on for a long period of time, with the timing of the â??attackâ? coinciding with the closure of the January transfer window.

That is no coincidence.

This has been brewing for months, with not so subtle hints about Rangers cash flow and viability coming from Celtic- minded bloggers Paul Brennan of Celtic Quick News, Phil Gillivan (Phil MacGiollaBhain), Disgraced Lawyer Paul McConville and various other Anti Rangers Activists including the Rangers Tax Case blog. This blog is rumoured to be a collaborative effort involving some of the above, Ray McKinney and Kieron Brady.

Of course they were ridiculed by the Rangers support, and of course they kept goading those ridiculing them.

We know of course that Gillivan and McConville are disgraced in their profession, but in the world of Anti Rangers Activism they are afforded licence by a hate mob that idolise their every move.

With many of these people â??self employedâ? (have they paid all their own tax we wonder?),ie free to spend as much time as possible attacking Rangers Football Club they are certainly very thorough, and fairly convincing at times.

They found a very willing audience at the Daily Record. A soon to be redundant James Traynor appears to be desperately trying to impress Scotlandâ??s remaining newspaper editors by displaying convincing Anti Rangers credentials, while Keith Jackson appears to still be smarting from being banned by Whyte earlier this season.

It also gave new Record Editor Allan Rennie a chance to show that his newspaper can display impeccable Anti Rangers credentials.

The details were certainly illuminating, with the central allegation being that Whyte borrowed £24M of finance from Ticketus from four years of future season ticket sales to pay the Lloyds debt and buy the club.

The Record also alleged that Rangers had failed to pay VAT on this arrangement.

Whyte of course has denied these allegations strongly and insisted that one of his companies funded the buy out of the club.

Aside from the actual report, much of the venom aimed at Whyte over the last two days has been propaganda from ousted Directors Alastair Johnston, Paul Murray, John McLelland and John Greig.

If Whyte states that the specific allegations of the £24M being used to buy the club or clear Lloyds debt are untrue he HAS to be trusted to his word.

Itâ??s the word of Whyte against the Daily Record, their Celtic Minded sources, and the useful idiots in the shape of the negligent former Directors of the club.

It is the involvement of the incompetent and, some would argue, negligent former Directors of the club that really grates, and the wording of much of the attack on Whyte is slanted to appear to be sympathetic to the club.

It isnâ??t.

The hypocrisy of any of that board attacking Whyte is extreme.

Yes, the Ticketus deal requires to be explained to the Shareholders and support in greater detail, and I fully expect Whyte to engage with the support very soon, but he should be afforded the opportunity to do so, without wave after wave of attack from these hypocrites who failed to run the club as a viable concern.

Of course, one absentee from the wave of critics is Sir David Murray, despite the coincidence of his appearance at Auchenhowie just last week.

The other absentee is Martin Bain.

Just about every one of their apologists has spoken though.

We at VB are apologists for no one and the management of Craig Whyte will be addressed in due course, but letâ??s remind ourselves of the many issues facing the club, and their cause

¨ No Ticket Office â?? Given away to another Murray Subsidiary, and now a call centre for Response Handling

¨ Edmiston Club Gone â?? See Above

¨ HMRC Issues â?? Murray/Bain legacy

¨ JJB handcuffs deal â?? Murray/Bain legacy

¨ Death of Club Shops & Profile in Glasgow Airport â?? Murray/Bain Legacy

¨ Azure/Response/Sub Contracts for IT â?? Given to Murray subsidiaries

¨ Never challenging the Media, and allowing the club and support to be attacked with impunity every day â?? Murray/Bain legacy

¨ Using Sub Standard Kit Suppliers â?? Murray/Bain legacy

¨ Letting UEFA make decisions on the basis of misinformation from anti Rangers activists â?? Murray/Bain

¨ Leaks of information from employees of the club to the press and Celtic bloggers â?? Murray/Bain

If Rangers fans who have shied away from protests for many years suddenly decide to become militant, then they should head to Charlotte Square in Edinburgh to protest outside Murrayâ??s office. Hell they could even spread across the road and have some words with Alex Salmond about his plans to kill atmosphere at football grounds across Scotland.

What they shouldnâ??t be doing is planning a protest against the Chairman until he has had the opportunity to explain himself.

If the HMRC circumstances dictate that the detailed financial discussion cannot take place until the AGM, then those fans will need to trust that the decision has been taken in order to protect the club.

Unrest and in fighting will only play in to the hands of the many Anti Rangers Activists who have been working towards such a conclusion.

Rangers fans should not be insulting or lying about their fellow supporters in order to manoeuvre and position themselves or their respective organisations in to areas of â??influenceâ? at such a time.

By doing so they will be giving those activists the signal to continue, regroup and aim a final kick at the club.

We as a Rangers support together should not let that happen.

Unity Is Strength

Timely and succinct reminder of who is actually responsible for what in this mess. Criticism of Whyte is welcome if thoughtful, and time will ultimately prove if the people's whose intuitions are supportive, or those whose intuitions are skeptical, will ultimately be proven right. We just can't know just now, but he is quite simply the only possible man who can get us through the mess he inherited. He must have been crazy, bold, loyal, or cunning, to take Rangers on with this hanging over us. David Murray seems already to have fallen into some convenient nostalgia, despite the fact that he is the precise cause of the issue that makes all of what's currently being reported look utterly, utterly trivial. That's a positively Orwellian level of cognitive dissonance. It would still be happening if he were here ffs, and the same directors would still be doing nothing and being paid handsomely for it.

Craig Whyte conducted a long period of due dilligence Barry, so he should have known what he was undertaking when handing over his hundred pence. The major gripes with him are nothing to do with who is to blame or who is the root cause of the tax problem from the previous owner. There are valid concerns about how Whyte is running the club in the here and now as well as what his actual plans are.

I know, that's what makes it crazy, bold, loyal, or cunning if he has some evil plan.

All I'm saying is that it's like complaining about the décor on the titanic. All of this stuff we have heard sounds dodgy, and it probably is - though the motives of those saying it have to be taken into account - but it's not going to matter if we get hit with a 42million pound iceberg. Doesn't mean we shouldn't learn our lesson from the previous dodgy owner and hold this one to account, though; as I said, thoughtful criticism and demands for transparency are welcome. Seems a bit like the tax angst is being transposed onto all this politicking and gripe settling and giving it more significance. The tax case is everything.

CW did say that money was used to tie up mc gregor davis whittaker to new contracts, does that mean the money borrowed is set aside to pay there wages for the duration of there contracts. Somehow i doubt that, so were did the money go

CW is really the only person who can answer that question and if the truth be told them its something we may not want to hear!..... Can you imagine CW coming out out and saying" yes I did use fans season ticket money to balance this and that! Season ticket renewals would more than likely drop of the scale!

I disagree with the idea that we allow CW to do to us what SDM did just because he isn't SDM. Have we learned nothing from the Murray years?

What's done is done, and while we should not forget or continue to apportion blame, we also should not take our eye off the current regime and allow them to get away with things just because of the HMRC case.

I agree, but what can we do ?

Surely the ex-directors have enough shares between them to call an EGM.

Hypocritical statement giving their petulant actions and continuous drive to belittle anything the RST do.

They exhibit extreme timmy behaviour. This statement is another example.

There have been too many from either side willing to stoop to behaviour that is unhelpful in terms of galvanising the support.

Rather than spend time on past mistakes, we should learn from them and move forward.
