A Thought on Integrity

Recommended Posts

I fail to see why. They were relegated on the grounds of coming last.

The somewhat convoluted argument, if I understand it correctly, is that if Rangers had been liquidated during the season, before Alan B'stard began keeping the cash flowing by holding out on the taxman, we'd have been bottom and relegated.

It's not as simple as that though since, if we'd gone into admin before the tax business, HMRC might have accepted a CVA. Or maybe they'd still have killed us for the BTC money. Feck knows.

Leeds oldco liquidated. Club sold to Bates newco to exit admin without a CVA agreement = 15pt pen

LeedsUnited went thro exactly same newco process as #Rangers & REMAINED in LeagueOne with EFL membership accepted. Penalty? 15pt deduction

Been wondering about that. Sure their situation was exactly the same as ours? They didn't have an EBT hanging over them, just ran out of money.

You could say that's worse. The EBT thing is at worst, an accident.

They did the same as Craig Whyte did and didn't pay their tax bills over a certain period of time. If I remember correctly, they were due HMRC about £7.5m + penalties (and interest?) for unpaid taxes, which isn't much less than Whyte failed to pay.
