jig signs new deal

Recommended Posts

RANGERS captain Lee McCulloch has signed a new two-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2015.

The 34-year-old striker has been in electric form this season, netting 14 goals in 16 appearances so far, and his experience has been vital with so many youngsters from Murray Park forcing their way into the first-team squad.

With his previous contract expiring next May, the Gers hierarchy has moved swiftly to keep Lee at Ibrox and the news is a massive boost ahead of tonightâ??s League Cup quarter final showdown against Inverness Caley Thistle.

McCoist revealed to http://www.rangers.co.uk last month that he was ready to offer his captain a contract extension and the manager has stuck to his word.

McCulloch, of course, joined Rangers from Wigan Athletic in July 2007 when Walter Smith made his dream move a reality.

Signing his four-year contract back then was one of the best moments of his life and since then the proud Bluenose has been a key player in so many of the clubâ??s recent successes.

The 6'1" star has been utilised in a number of positions throughout his Light Blues career, including turning out as a central defender and midfielder for both the reserves and the first team.

Now playing in attack his prolific form in 2012/13 has been crucial as Rangers have climbed to the top of the Scottish Third Division and he will be as determined as ever to help his teammates this week as they target victories over the Highland Jags and Alloa Athletic in the League Cup and Scottish Cup respectively.

Never been a fan of jig unless he plays up front but we need stability and some constant in the playing squad and sttod up for the club when others saw greed so good decision for me.

should be a pay cut as his quality is decreasing and his legs are going but as long as he is left up front and is never allowed near our midfield again then i am ok with this. still shouldnt be captain though.

Who would you make captain?
