SPL Commission delayed?

Recommended Posts

McKenzie is not a party to the case. He acts for one of the parties. Somebody from the cab rank should be able to take it up.

Ironic but sad that the deceased held the King's Commission in the Mackenzie Highlanders, the Gallant Seaforth.

Confirmed by the Herald

http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/rangers-hearing-deferred-by-spl.19373018

The independent commission set up by the Scottish Premier League to investigate Rangers' use of Employee Benefit Trusts is likely to have to defer its hearing, which was due to begin next week as Rod McKenzie, the Harper McLeod lawyer who had gathered the evidence against the Ibrox club, was involved in a car crash last week and is still recovering from his injuries.

No firm decision has been taken on the hearing, which was arranged for Tuesday and was to be chaired by Lord Nimmo Smith. However, with McKenzie unable to attend, it is likely to be postponed.

The hearing is due to hear evidence about Rangers' use of EBTs from 2001 to 2010 and whether or not any payments to players should have been registered in their contracts.

McKenzie's initial investigations convinced the SPL that there is a prima facie case against the Ibrox club, although Charles Green, the Rangers chief executive, said they would boycott the commission's investigation.

The SPL's investigation was launched on March 5 to determine whether or not all payments made to Rangers players in respect of their earnings from football were declared, which is required by the Scottish Football Association rules.

However, Green said that "neither the SPL, nor its commission, has any legal power or authority over the club because it is not in the SPL".

If Rangers were to be found guilty, the commission can choose from a number of sanctions. However, during negotiations over Rangers' SFA membership licence last summer, individuals within the SPL wanted Rangers to agree to be stripped of the titles the club won from 2001 to 2010, which they have refused.

This was in the local paper last week. (taken from the courier)

Killiecrankie man named as victim of A9 crash at Dalguise

The pensioner who died following a two-vehicle smash on the A9 north of Dunkeld has been named as Michael Guy Cox.

The 84-year-old, from Killiecrankie, suffered fatal injuries as the result of the head-on collision at the Dalguise junction on Thursday.

Mr Cox, a former officer in the Seaforth Highlanders, had been travelling north along the A9 when the accident took place at around 4pm.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Born on September 29 1928, he was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Ralph George Snead Cox and Edith Colville and was educated at Ampleforth College in Yorkshire.

Police are still appealing for information into the cause of the incident and are keen to speak to anyone who saw or spoke with Mr Cox prior to his journey.

Anyone with information should contact 0300 111 2222.

RST got this one bang on the money regarding McKenzie's involvement and the SPL's denial of this being his mission to crucify us based on purely selfish bigoted reasons, and being egged on and encouraged by the only business who gain anything out of this very expensive kangaroo court but dont have to pop their head up above the parapet at all.

I hope they send a follow-up letter next week when their original letter is ignored, and dont just let it lie as a good soundbite. I am confident they will and look forward to reading what excuse the SPL are going to give for this one.

I doubt very much if a replacement was ever considered even though one would think that this law firm would be able to step up with some cover. He's handling this case for a reason and that's that. There has been much talk of a conflict of interest concerning Duff & Phelps, so why no press questions on a possible conflict concerning this man and his involvement in this hearing?

The RST chair has written to the SPL for clarity and we will report any findings to our members.

It will be interesting to hear their retort!,if they ever bother to reply to a fair question?,I won't hold my breath
