Bitter Shug Keevins - Drivel!

Recommended Posts

THERE was something pleasantly nostalgic about the way the crowd at Celtic Park believed Benfica had gone a goal down at Barcelona on Wednesday night.

We live in an age of instant communication where Kris Commons had probably tweeted his delight at scoring while his penalty was on the journey down from the crossbar to the goal-line and up into Spartak Moscowâ??s net.

How could a Champions League game take place in the Nou Camp with any possibility of a goal being scored there and not everybody being sure whether it had happened or not?

That was possible in the days when TV cameras showed black and white pictures and there was a telephone on the presenterâ??s desk in the studio in case the film came loose and the viewers had to be given an apology for the break in transmission.

But Sir Sir Arthur Montford is now deservedly enjoying his retirement while the more sedate game he brought to our living rooms has been traded for todayâ??s doo-lally extravaganza.

An entire country should be uplifted by Neil Lennonâ??s side making the last 16 of the Champions League with a heroic display of skill and mental strength â?? but it wonâ??t be.

Even the Celtic fans allowed the bitterness and vindictiveness thatâ??s eating the game alive here to get the better of them in the immediate aftermath of a famous victory.

Their support at Kilmarnock yesterday was reduced in number because some fans boycotted the game in protest over Rugby Park chairman Michael Johnston.

He abstained from the summertime vote on whether a Rangers newco should be allowed entry to the SPL.

And he refused to give Celtic an extra allocation of tickets when they won the title on his teamâ??s ground a few years ago.

It doesnâ??t really matter when the demonstration of powerâ??s the thing, does it?

Iâ??m assured some fans changed their mind and went to Ayrshire because they were so inspired by Celticâ??s result against Spartak.

Principles are all very well but thereâ??s no point in letting them get in the way of your enjoyment is there?

Rangers fans, meanwhile, wonâ??t attend their teamâ??s Scottish Cup tie at Tannadice because Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson is a very naughty boy or something.

The reasonâ??s an irrelevance because the fans say they would have done the same thing if the cup draw had taken them to Celtic Park instead of Tayside.

If you believe that youâ??ll also believe Charles Green would have donated half of a 60,000 gate at Celtic Park to charities of his choice.

I met an SPL chairman a few days ago who genuinely fears the kind of negative emotions being stirred up within Scottish football will one day result in a personal attack on one of the gameâ??s high-profile figures with tragic consequences.

And he was, if youâ??ll allow the expression, deadly serious.

His club plays in a league where the last set of accounts showed losses of £11.9million. And that was before Rangers went to the Third Division to guarantee greater losses.

We have to do something more to arrest a deepening crisis other than trying our best to make the place look even more demented. Rangers will need to get over the fact Craig Whyte ruined the club, not Dundee United. His successor is playing the Rangers fans like a violin and thatâ??s understandable for a man with a £25m share issue to sell.

I was going to say playing the fans like a fiddle but youâ??ve got to be careful with your terminology these days.

But the game has to sell itself better at the same time. The SPL is looking for a new sponsor and Celtic's Euro success should act as a formidable selling point.

If, that is, it wasnâ??t for the fact we give outsiders every opportunity to think any association with our game is the equivalent of consorting with madmen.

Can we just get back to the football instead of thinking up new ways to sabotage it?

No one understands us. We donâ??t care.

But we should.

Quite frankly it is all they are capable of. They shouldn't be in these positions. It is time the cronyism was exposed.

I wonder if oor Jim will be coming out with articles lambasting the likes of this pish?

"Rangers will need to get over the fact Craig Whyte ruined the club, not Dundee United."

This is clearly the new 'party line' in the Scottish mhedia. English was also pushing it.

But, of course, it completely misses the point.

We all know that between them, David Murray and Craig Whyte were responsible for Rangers going into administration and, subsequently, liquidation.

What we blame the SFA, SPL and a number of SPL clubs for is their deliberate attempt to further damage us by an illegal transfer embargo, by the continuing attempt to steal our titles and by the theft of money that was due to the club.

Instead of trying to help a member club that was in trouble, they tried to damage us even further and to ensure that we could not be competitive for many years.

For that, we will not forget and we will not forgive.

If, indeed, Keevins wants us to "get back to the football instead of thinking up new ways to sabotage it" then he needs to be telling the SFA/SPL to:

1. End the SPL attempt to steal our titles

2. Lift the illegal transfer embargo

3. Restitute the monies stolen from us.

If they do that, we will still not forget or forgive but we might be willing to be a bit nicer.

I'm sure this would not happen in any other country in the world -Leeds Utd were only relegated one division i think. What made us appear worse was that Whyte did not pay the PAYEetc. but that was the fault of one man not the club.

my major beef is with the idea they had to get rid of us for sporting integrity reasons.

that was proven to be hooey when the brought up dundee for their fan base and dropped dunfermline. this despite previously not relegating motherwell and aberdeen.

that proved they were simply being vindictive when they got rid of us. rangers fans and dumfermline fans have every reason to try and sink these spl clubs.

Obviously this will be splashed over the back pages all this week, and the constant topic of discussions on various radio phone ins etc....

I make no apologies for bumping my own post from a few weeks ago when Davie Provo did a similar article telling us to stop acting the martyr and get back to helping the SPL clubs or something of that nature. The same applies Shug!

"Oh right Davie\Shug. So let me get the picture straight here.

You all thought that your picnic in the woods would be a whole lot nicer if you could clear the woods of the Big Bear that everyone at the picnic disliked\were afraid of\were intimidated by. So the kennel doors were opened and the bloodthirsty hounds were let loose on the Bear. Although this ugly frenzy seemed draconian, vicious and even slightly immoral, everyone at the picnic put their fingers to their ears (including you). You see it was for the greater good of all at the picnic. Once the Bear (or 'DeadBear' as you were now calling him at the picnic) was dead everyone would bring food to the picnic and it would flourish. Your evil actions were not actually evil at all - they were actually an act of integrity in a strange sort of way. Then the noises of the howls, knashing, ripping of flesh etc started to subside, and the bloodstained dogs trudged back wearily to the kennels (some ran off and weren't seen again). They were fed scraps from the picnic as it had been a long and bloody struggle but they had faithfully done what was asked of them. Right?

All of a sudden through the snapping branches appears the Great Bear. It stands on it's hind legs and roars in defiance. It is torn, tired and bloodied, but it is clear this magnificent beast will not be defeated, and it will never surrender. All at the pinic scramble for cover, no longer a collective, they push each other to the ground as each seeks to protect the individual. Some even offer up scraps to the Great Bear to win favour, but the roar of the beast gives an indication that it not here to feed on scraps.

Then a man of great wisdom steps forward heralding to all that he will save the day. He stands tall, smiles knowingly, and tells the Bear "stop acting the martyr. Neither you or anyone here will gain anything from you acting all scary and defiant. Get over it. Go get a wash, behave yourself, and we will bring out a tub of honey and you can join us. We won't even ask you to apologise!! Now go on - quickly now."

FUCK OFF DAVIE and SHUG! "
