Rangers have offered a trial to Argentine defender Cristian Trombetta

One Brian Laudrup got relegated with Fiorentina in his first season in Italy, then made 9 starts in his whole loan season at Milan before we snatched him up. Look at the pedigree of Dado Prso before he eventually signed for Monaco. Football can be a funny old game with 17-year old wizkids like McKay, Stoney, and Rooney. Or old chaps like Caniggia, Weir and the like. And no, I'm not saying that this Argentinian will or could be anywhere close to these people. But we'll never know until we (or rather the management) sees him.

laudrup had won the european championships and player of the year awards in germany before going to italy.

in the spl we will need international class players to win it. he isnt an international and at 26 he wont be when we hit the spl. signing the likes of nicky clarke who is 21 is great. signing 26 year old journeymen is pointless. we dont need them to win the sfl2 and they wont contribute to winning the spl.

How do you define "international class"? The standard to be picked for the Argintina squad is totally different than that for a country of say, Scotland's current stature...

Please, please, please...nooooo! Instead of taking a punt on a utility player from another continent who has hardly played in 4 season, why not actually scout a a young and eager player from the lower leagues in Scotland/England/Ireland. Look what Lambert did at Norwich FFS. He took lower league players and moulded them into a team that got promoted into the EPL. I sometimes get the feeling that our scouting system involves the following... "Ally, Ally..i have a player for you . You'll love him...he has a foreign sounding name and can play in about 4 positions wihtout actually excelling at any of them...."

...oh, and he loves afternoons off for golf and catching up on his favourite tv programmes

He's probably the trumpet player in the stands and our gallant scouting staff reported to McCoist that the boy plays a mean tune ffs.
