CRO - When is an unbiased national broadcaster not unbiased?

Recommended Posts

Reference Rangers, there are as many opinions as there are Rangers supporters.

However, the one thing that unites the Rangers support is the constant appalling conduct of BBC Scotland in reporting matters Rangers these last dozen years.

There was real irony on Saturday afternoon when the usual suspects on Sportsound rushed to commend those Rangers supporters demonstrating against the present club Board. We, the Rangers support have been fractious, divisive, disunited, .....etc; now, we are being congratulated for showing collective action. Recognising the united Rangers support consistently pointing the accusing finger at Pacific Quay is awkward and inconvenient.

The media are there to report the news and to inform its audience about current affairs; it is not there to act as the manufacturer or promoter of propaganda or misinformation.

I dunno who told Andy this. Anyone who's ever read a paper in the UK would know this is not the case.

Up stepped Mark Daly to produce his award-winning documentary on Rangers

To be fair, it was only a regional Bafta. A pat on the head for the peasants in the sticks.

While other outlets pride themselves on professionalism and accuracy

Who????

This national broadcaster i.e. BBC Scotland will become unbiased when it stops receiving its outdated licence fee from the people of this country regardless of whether they watch BBC Scotland or not and it becomes dependent on commercial revenue from other sources. It will then be reliant on audiences because that will determine how much revenue it would get and if it continued to produce inaccurate, biased & poorly-researched broadcasts and continued to employ some of the pond life who currently appear in these broadcasts then audience figures would fall and thus revenues would fall accordingly too. Other broadcasters exist in this way. Why can't the BBC ?
