In theory though, could RIFC sell the shares in RFC to a third party?

In theory, yes, but it become difficult as RIFC is a quoted company and would probably need an EGM to sell its shares. If it approved it, the shareholders would be left holding shares in a company that had no trade and just had cash (on the assumption that the inter-company balance was cleared).

He knows what's best for rangers

It seems to be a two pronged approach from him. On one hand he's in contact with and supportive of all the key 'Rangers men', then on the other hand he's obliged to write some more controversial shit-stirring stuff on behalf of the paper. When you look back at his articles over the past couple of years though, it's not easy to buy into the idea that everything being written about us in that paper is anti-Rangers drivel written on behalf of Celtic fans, so it kinda blows some of our support's anti-Record stuff right out of the water.
