No, not a whoosh. It is simply a piss-poor effort at 'Oh, look how ironic I can be' humour. Putting comedy aside, he can't even get the dates right regarding the socks. The full red top didn't appear until the years during The Great War. Prior to that it was two thin bands.

Trying too hard.

Ach!, lighten up man, you don't have to criticise every single post on here you know, sometimes it's good to laugh!,try it.

Don't be so touchy, I wasn't criticising your post....unless you are the author, that is.

The main problem is that there are newspapers and editors who print this rubbish, not to mention paying for it.

On a sidenote, you'd have to dig rather deep to get to this ONE meaning of these words. I doubt that any modern day Bluenose did this or even thought about it. When the East Germans rallied against their leaders in 1988/89, they chanted "Wir sind das Volk!" during their demonstrations: i.e. "We are the People!". Obviously, with people they did not talk about or refer to those "who get to the promised land", but simple the people the country should serve first and foremost (and that goes for any sort of government, BTW).

One Rangers song of the 80s/90s also has a prominent line saying "We are the people, who cheer the boys in blue."

It's called A Goal, A Goal and is actually from a lot earlier than that. It is now banned according to Sir David Murray.

For he is our God

and we are the people of his pasture.... comes from The Bible.

I know where this line might come from and where it can be found. I for one doubt that this is the line which is referred to when modern day Rangers support use it. IMHO more to do like "We are the chosen or real people" ... because we follow Rangers. Then again, I doubt that many supporters even go that far either. It makes a good chant.

BTW, I take this article as a genuine wind-up.

That type of article has been done to death in the past, and isn't particularly funny or apt in the current environment.

As for WATP, I firmly believe it's got nothing to do with a quote from the bible.
