RST increasing shareholding by 250,000

Recommended Posts

The RST announce when and how many shares they have purchased, just like they did today. Why anyone requires to know how many RST members contribute to BR I fail to understand, its their business. I'm a member and do not contribute to BR, preferring to buy as an individual, just in case you are interested. As Bluedell have so eloquently stated it ain't a pissing competition

Cause then we'd know where we are, rather than having to guess and hope for the best. Just cause BH is asking doesn't mean it's an invalid question.

THE Rangers Supporters Trust have increased its stake in the club by more than 250,000 shares.

The Trust have purchased a further 125,000 shares from the market on the back of soaring membership that now tops 5300.

They have also been donated a further 150,000 shares from more than 300 fans, who have been handed life membership as a result.

The total shareholding of the RST is now 1,275,009 shares, representing 1.56 per cent of total club stock.

A Trust spokesman said: “Further share donation forms are being received daily, as are hundreds of proxy forms for the upcoming general meeting.

“We would like to thank the fans for supporting the RST in their thousands - together we can ensure this general meeting is a success.”

The only thing that is important is the number of shares purchased, and that is public knowledge.

Yes, I would expect them to publicise their membership numbers in good times and bad and I also see no reason why the RST should not publicised the numbers of members of BR.

Good, open governance and all that.

I have congratulated both schemes for their excellent efforts and am happy to do so again.

The problem, though, is that in the event they get into reporting information is that it becomes expected. If they report a fall in numbers how would that crystallise in terms of donations ? More than likely it would fall off a cliff. I don't see the benefit to that.

I don't think the numbers are that relevant in all honesty - what is more relevant is a) how much has been raised and b) what those monies go towards. The number of members is a passing mention for me. in an extreme example, you could have BF with one member who contributed 10 million whilst RF have 1 million members contributing a tenner. Does it really matter that much how many members you have or is it more important to know how much has been collected ?

Does it really matter about the number of members. Healthy rivalry between BF and RF is good but it shouldn't turn into a pissing competition.

RF may have a lot of members now but as soon as they stop contributing then they're out so RF has a lot more scope for a fall in members than BR does, and if the EGM is successful RF could see a dramatic fall in members. Would we expect that RF publicise that, which could lead to others following suit?

Let's just keep it all positive and hope that both schemes can go from strength to strength.

Yes, I think it does matter how many members there are. We have bemoaned the lack of information and transparency coming from the board. Our fan controlled schemes need to be beyond reproach.
