Scotland vs Gibraltar - Sun KO 17:00

Recommended Posts

Anybody on here attending? I'll be watching on tv.

Colin Stein was the last player to score a hat-trick for Scotland 46 years ago (he scored 4 in an 8-1 victory v Cyprus) most of you guys on here probably weren't even born when that happened.

Do you think a player or maybe even a couple of players can emulate Stein in this game?

Anything less than six should be considered a failure against a country who should not be competing in International football.

The much lauded wee Chesney still hasn't properly replaced Kenny Miller as Scotland's main striker over a year after he retired from International football and that has to be a concern.

That's quite an amazing fact that no Scotland player has hit a hattrick for 46 years considering we have had San Marino etc in qualifiers and we went to 5 world cups in a row.

First and foremost we get the game won then start to think about goals. Anything less than 5 would be poor. I remember going to rangers cup tie against Keith in 1996 and said minimum 5 should be scored but we put 10 past them so we should be getting 6 or 7. Results against Gibraltar won't count for in the table at the end but goal difference might.

I doubt that big scores are possible against any team these day's. Even the top countries find it hard to break the small teams down. The small teams are normally super fit and defend with 10 men and hope to score from a break away. Even Iceland are second about 7 points clear of the Dutch. The Dutch are hoping to sneak through in 3rd place.

Don't exactly have much choice there. Rhodes would probably be the best bet, bearing in mind Naismith isn't an out and out striker.

In their 4 matches so far they have conceded 21 goals and scored 0.

Gibraltar side consists of a student, police officers and teachers. :)

Preston North End's Scott Wiseman is the only professional player in manager David Wilson's line-up.
