I'll take this if it goes to penalties on Sunday:

Ha, brilliant man! Never seen that one before, had me in stitches.

is the ball not dead after it comes back out? (in a penalty shoutout)

...After it comes back out :cool2:...back out from where? :)

Since the ball did not pass through the plane of the boundaries of the pitch after it struck the bar, but instead went up in the air, and had no further form of direct force from any player other than the original strike of the ball, the ball is still in play until it comes to rest.

Remember Jelavic's goal against them in the cup final. It hit one post, came back into play and squirmed across the goal line just inside the opposite post before Izaquire could reach it.

There is a god.

After the ball hit the bar (and I have this on good authority) it travelled out of the field of play before a seagull thought it was some grub...on pecking the ball it re-entered the field of play causing the ball to come back into play and ending up in the net. Goal line technology proved (as it does) the seagull was reared by a certain Lionel Messi and for that reason only the goal stood.

According to the commentary, there is nothing in the FIFA rules saying that the goal should not have stood. It probably would have, but it was a promotion game in Southern Tirol (Italy) and the Italian FA decided that there had to be a replay. No idea about the outcome.

BTW, it was probably one of the "strangest penalties ever", rather then "the best". ;)
