MARTYN Waghorn joined Rangers today, and to introduce him to you, we’ve pulled together a number of interesting facts about him:

 

Waghorn made his senior debut as a 17 year-old in a 4-0 defeat for Sunderland against Manchester United at the Stadium of Light.

 

Waghorn won Leicester City’s “Young Player of the Year” award for the 2009/10 season having scored 12 goals in 47 appearances.

 

Earlier in pre-season, Waghorn scored a double against Gers’ Championship rivals Hibernian in a friendly in La Manga.

 

Waghorn has an excellent scoring record at international level, having scored two goals in two appearances for England’s under-21 side.

 

Waghorn will wear number 33 for Rangers - the same number he wears for every club out of superstition.

JAMES Tavernier joined Rangers today and we've put together five fast facts about the 23-year-old to help you get to know him better.

 

James played for local team Farsley Celtic before moving to Leeds United as a youngster.

 

He started his career as a central midfielder and even played one season as a goalkeeper before converting to his now more familiar role in defence.

 

The right-back is 5’9” and weighs 12 stone 11lbs and will wear the Number Two shirt for Rangers.

 

He netted twice when Bristol City beat Bradford 6-0 last season. His new teammate Andy Halliday was an unused sub for Bradford that afternoon.

 

James shared a dressing room with former Ger and current Dundee forward Rory Loy whilst on loan at Carlisle United in 2011.

He's taller than Aird . Unlike Aird it seems he is a good player so I welcome this with open arms. Waghorn I am not so sure about with a very poor goal scoring record of 25 goals in 148 games but we shall see. He is moving to a much lower level.

 

Am I allowed to say 25 goals in 148 games is a 'very poor' goal scoring record for a striker or are you going to start crying about this as well ?

Seeen Zeefuik has been told he free to leave Groningen.

 

GÉNERO Zeefuik could be on his way back to Heart of Midlothian after the striker was told by his Dutch club Groningen that he is no longer in their plans and can leave now.

 

That could open the door for Hearts, where Zeefuik had a profitable four-month loan last season, and Groningen’s managing director, Hans Nijland, has revealed that Zeefuik is having discussions with a “foreign club”.

 

Nijland confirmed on his own Twitter account that “Genero Zeefuik has permission to talk to a foreign club and that he has been allowed to miss Monday’s training.”

 

Manager Robbie Neilson was eager to keep the 25-year-old at Tynecastle after he netted 12 goals in 15 games to help Hearts back into the Scottish Premiership but Groningen’s demand of a £300,000 fee seemed to kill off any hope of a deal.

 

However, sources in Holland claim that Groningen have dropped that idea and simply want to get Zeefuik off the wage bill because the striker they from bought from PSV Eindhoven in 2012 signed a five-year contract.

Zeefuik became a cult hero with the Hearts support, especially after signing off with a late double in the final match of the season to earn a 2-2 draw with Rangers at Tynecastle.

Having taken a pay cut in order to join Hearts in the first place, he returned to Groningen intent on pleading to be allowed to rejoin the Gorgie club.

“Maybe I can come here to Hearts or go to another club. I don’t know,” Zeefuik said then. “I don’t think Groningen want me. I did a good job here so maybe it’s possible I can play here next season.”

 

Neilson admitted last April that Zeefuik – who also grabbed a hat-trick in just three minutes in the 10-0 rout of Cowdenbeath – had made a huge impact.

“Género is a player that we’d like to keep, but it has to come within our budget,” Neilson said at the time.

“That’s just being prudent. Género has had a great season but we’re only a year on from administration and the doors nearly being shut, so we still have to live within our means. The ball is in Género’s court and Groningen’s.”

Zeefuik was a real handful against us (never mind the defence we had then) and sure knew how to score in the Championship. I would be surprised if he doesn't go back to Hearts, unless some EPL / English Championship team happens by. Or indeed some low-key German team.
