Michael O'Halloran can't wait to experience the Ibrox roar

Recommended Posts

MICHAEL O’HALLORAN is determined to mark his Ibrox bow in style as he bids to fire Rangers to victory over St Mirren this afternoon.

The striker has made three appearances for Mark Warburton’s side since his deadline day move from St Johnstone but he has yet to make his home debut in Light Blue.

O’Halloran has given Gers fans glimpses of what he can do in his showings against Raith Rovers, Alloa and Queen of the South in recent weeks.

Now he is relishing the chance to shine at Ibrox when Warburton’s side host St Mirren aiming to take another step towards the Championship title.

O’Halloran said: “I have played in three away games so obviously I am looking forward to it. It will be totally different to Alloa and Queen of the South.

“I have played [at Ibrox] before, the atmosphere is brilliant, the fans get right behind the team and it is great.

“That is the kind of atmosphere and stadium you want to play in. I am really looking forward to it.

“Obviously playing in front of 2000 or 3000 at St Johnstone is going to be different to playing in front of 45,000 or 50,000 at Ibrox.

“I have played in front of crowds like that before so I am used to it. It will be good to play more regularly in front of that crowd.

“That is what everyone as a young kid strives to do. You want to be in those big atmospheres.

“I went to watch the Kilmarnock game in the Scottish Cup, because I am cup-tied. I went and sampled it then and saw what it was all about and it was brilliant.

“I have not really had a chance to look around [the stadium]. When I went in it was the game and we were preparing.

“I am sure at some point I will have a wander round and look at the trophy room. That will be good.”

After seeing title rivals Hibernian falter in midweek, Rangers are now huge favourites to go on and clinch the Championship crown in the coming weeks.

The Gers are eight points clear of Alan Stubbs’ side with just eleven games left this term as they set their sights on a Premiership berth.

Boss Warburton is confident his squad have what it takes to handle the pressure and get the job done this term and O’Halloran is determined to live up to the Ibrox expectations during the final stages of the campaign.

He said: “Maybe at St Johnstone you’re not expected to win every game, whereas here you are.

“We go out to win every game and that’s what you want to do as a footballer, if I’m being honest. You want to go and play attacking football and win games.

"There is the expectancy from the fans and the other boys in the team and the staff as well, we’re all wanting to go out there to win and I knew that coming here that’s what it’s all about.

“You see the likes of Kenny (Miller) and Lee (Wallace) who have been here for a number of years and they know how the clubs works.

“Kenny came on at the weekend and he inspires the lads with a great finish.

“They are there for the younger boys to ask for advice and how to deal with certain situations. It’s good having certain players like them in the squad.”

I thought he was excellent today apart from his shooting.

At both ends he also had a few good opportunities to shoot and opted instead for a pass. He did well overall though and provided the assist for Forrester's goal.

Hes got really quick feet and reflexes. Few times today i thought he'd overrun the ball but his pace got him to balls that were not in his favour. Just needs to get a wee bit more composure and look up more often. He will be a real asset in us going forward. Not sure if wide right is his best position though. But probably our best player today. He roasted that left back constantly and it was so frustrating that we continued to attack down the left, especially second half.
