That advert on tv for Emirates sponsoring the Emirates FA Cup. Surely that advert is wrong and the oldest trophy is the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup commonly known as the Scottish Cup ?

But also says this, "The competition was first held in 1873–74. It is the oldest national trophy in the world. It was first presented to Queen’s Park, who won the inaugural tournament in 1874. "

The FA Cup was open to Scottish teams up until 1887, then the Scottish Football Association banned its members from taking any further part in it.

 

Although it is an older Cup than the Scottish FA Cup, in reality it was a 'British Cup' as opposed to an English Cup.

 

So with that in mind...the Scottish Cup is genuinely the oldest Cup to be competed for in World football within any football association.
