Four games in - what's our best first XI...?

Recommended Posts

A lot of the side seems to pick itself...although Warburton may have different ideas.

3 main decisions -

Centre halves - 2 from Kiernan, Wilson and Hill. I'd got for the latter 2 initially, partly based on Wilson looking good in our last game.

The third midfielder - one from Halliday, Rossiter (although he may be cover from Barton and we probably won't play with 2 defensive mids), Holt, Windass or Forrester. I'd go for Windass initially but this will probably rotate

The third forward - one from MOH, Forrester, Dodoo or Miller. Possibly a rotation again but I'd probably go for Forrester.

As usual we agree on most things BD, especially Hill and Wilson, Barton over Rossiter, I think you may be correct about Windass over Halliday but not immediately, and again we agree on Forrester as the "third" forward.

Regarding the fitness of Kranjcar I don't think it would be accurate to say that he isn't fit enough to play but rather that he isn't fit enough to efficiently operate for a full 90 minutes. He will do perfectly well if he is given a starting spot and then replaced at the now traditional 60 minute mark.

The Burnley game may see a lot of switching around outside that 60 minutes since he can mix it up as much as he wants to in a friendly.
