Warbs: We Have Our Targets

Recommended Posts

MW has said a few times that the talent pool is becoming limited by the day, be it because lack of (required) talent or because smaller clubs with bigger budgets fishing alongside us. Something which "we" oftentimes ignore. Hence, while we want a quality striker and a quality CH, MW and Co. will have to look at who is about, who is of the ability required, who of those are willing to come and at what cost etc..

Krancjar, Barton, Rossiter and Dodoo have raised our profile and this may help us. But RvP or not, we should keep our feet firmly on the ground and thinking about the above when looking at possible and realistic signing targets.

While McFarland and Warburton deserve great credit for managing the budget and improving the squad, bringing in real quality like Barton & Nico, it is also clear we have missed our first choice targets for centre half and centre forward, and perhaps our back-up choices as well, given the lack of movement in this area.

It would be foolish to believe we should get everyone we target, especially given the wages players can earn at mediocre clubs in England, but given these were most certainly priority signings from last season, I am sure they are very disappointed to miss out on their first picks.

Hopefully they have re-assessed their options and are close to pulling off the two more signings that will give us all the belief that we are ready.

He keeps saying it's not about numbers it's about adding quality which I find encouraging. It suggests to me that they're not going to sign anything which isn't an improvement on anything we already have.
