RANGERS striker Joe Dodoo has been ruled out of action for up to five weeks after being crocked against Kilmarnock.

The former Leicester City kid was stretchered off at Rugby Park last month as Mark Warburton’s side were held to a 1-1 draw in the Premiership.

Rangers warmed up for their Old Firm clash this weekend with a 7-0 win over Linfield on Saturday as Josh Windass and Martyn Waghorn returned to action.

Dodoo did not feature in Belfast but boss Warburton is keen to get him back on the park as quickly as possible.

He told RangersTV: “Josh got a good hour and looked very strong, fit and got forward. Likewise, Waggy came on and played high before dropping in to a midfield role for us and that allowed us to look at different people in different positions.

“It’s great to welcome them back, and touch-wood we will have a full squad to choose from, the only exception being Joe Dodoo, who unfortunately suffered in the Kilmarnock game, and he is facing four or five weeks on the sidelines.

“He is a quick healer by the looks of things though, and fingers-crossed he will come back sooner than expected. All in all, it was a really pleasing weekend for us.”

Don't have any luck with injuries to strikers do we. Waghorn been out for a month and can't be anything like properly match fit then just as we're on the cusp of getting him back down goes Dodoo. We had a Garner injury scare at the weekend and how ironic that the only one who seems to remain injury free is the oldie Miller.

I only saw a replay of the foul on him just once and instantly thought: penalty. The defender was all over him and he fell badly. It was never shown again anywhere ... and it was just one of four incidents in that game where a decent whistler might have pointed to the spot. Most talk though was about the penalty "Killie never got" when the shot hit the turning Hill almost at the shoulder.

You can see it here starting around the 43 second mark. Dodoo makes a jump and is airborne when he is grabbed and spun by the defender which was what caused him to land badly. He was grabbed and spun forcefully enough that he made a full 360° turn before coming down.

Haven't seen that video before, so thanks for that. You can clearly see the challenges on Dodoo and Barton for the penalties not given, the late foul by Smith on McKay (which should have earned him a yellow there and then ... and a second yellow later), the assault on Barton and the tackle McKay got (at the byline) and who Miller referred to as penalty-worth.

What IS most interesting about it: we have not gone ballistic about this bar a few remarks straight after the game. As opposed some others, who have the mhedia at their lips when something goes awry, not for or against them. More often than not, this is a sign of greater stature. Sometimes one would hope for the odd, well made remark though.
