The Nigerian defender only returned to Hoops training this morning after a transfer to Blackburn Rovers fell through. Ambrose, 28, had agreed a switch to Rovers before the end of the January transfer window but the deal was scuppered by work permit issues. Ambrose was back training with his Hoops team-mates today but has quickly agreed to rejoin Hibs*boss Neil Lennon, who took him to Celtic Park in 2012, to solve their defensive injury crisis. Lennon has lost centre-back trio Jordon Forster, Liam Fontaine and Paul Hanlon to injury, with midfielder Marvin Bartley forced to slot in alongside Darren McGregor during Saturday’s draw with Dunfermline. Highly-rated prospect Ryan Porteous has also been loaned out to Edinburgh City. Ambrose*will stay with Hibs until the end of the season after agreeing a 93-day loan. Celts team-mate Kris Commons signed a similar contract with Hibs in December but his move was only for 28 days. der Berliner 3,247 Posted February 28, 2017 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Some reading of rues later, while it has been scraped in England and/or FIFA too, it is still about for Scottish clubs: According to the pfa scotland website Emergency loans: these loans are only available to clubs in the Championship, League 1 and League 2 not to Premiership clubs and are for a minimum period of 28 days and maximum period of 93 days. The same restrictions as outlined in Standard loans apply. Furthermore no club can bring in any player after 31 March except in emergency circumstances and any such registration requires the specific approval of the SPFL Board. Looks like Hibs need that to have 2 CHs in the cup game at the weekend, as McGregor will be suspended. Whether Ambrose is of any help remains to be seen, of course. BTW, in day gone past, Rangers handed in 28 sic notes and asked for a game to be postponed, but that was declined. Opposition was Hibernian FC, who still 2-1 and had that gall to debate the winning goal. Ah, we do love them, don't we?! Sporting integrity must be contained ... I thought a suspension was supposed to be a penalty? What is the point of teams having reserves if they aren't actually reserves?
