Has there actually been a statement from the club ? Some are saying this is a permanent fixture. if it is then the only reason I can think of the club not mentioning it is their hardly likely to say the glass might cause injury if there was an explosion. The review follows the Manchester Arena bombing which killed 22 people, Prime Minister Theresa May briefly raised the terror threat level to critical - the highest possible - before reducing it to severe a few days later. Also involved in the new measures is an Eminem concert at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow tonight which will have armed police overseeing tens of thousands of revellers. The statement said: “Police Scotland constantly review how we police major events and sporting fixtures. “You will have noticed at recent matches at Ibrox Stadium that roads around the perimeter of the stadium have been closed prior to and at the conclusion of the match. “Taking into account the current UK Threat Level and to ensure the safety of all spectators this new arrangement will continue until further notice. “The road closures will be lifted as soon as the Safety Officer and Match Commander are satisfied that the spectators are safely away from the stadium. “We hope you understand the reasoning behind the closures and ask for your patience and support. “We work closely with the Safety Team at Rangers Football Club and this is an ongoing partnership that will continue as we work together to keep you all safe.” Ibrox chiefs said the security measure will remain in place “until further notice” and the roads would be closed until police chiefs are satisfied fans are safely away from the stadium. It follows terror in Spain as a driver ploughed a white van into the popular tourist promenade of Las Ramblas in central Barcelona. Absolutely true but one wonders just how credible any threat is. I worry more about increasing policing costs and how their footprint is continually being extended from the stadium outwards. No idea if true, although hopefully Orange get on board if it is. I don't see how anyone could argue against the police vehicles on Edmiston Drive.
