Former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has suffered humiliation as his new side Cruz Azul were dumped out of the Mexican Cup by minnows.

In only his second game as boss, the Portuguese watched on as the eight-time Mexican champions lost away to their lower league opponents, Alebrijes de Oaxaca, who were formed only five years ago.

The embarrassing defeat followed a goalless draw in Caixinha's first match and some fans are already calling for him to be sacked.

However, Caixinha was defiant after the match and insisted the signs of improvement were there.

He said: "We actually played better than we did in my first match.

"We were aggressive and played some great football.

"There is no pressure because I know the goals will come very soon.

"I regret the result, but we are proud of the commitment and passion the players put into the tie."

New signing Carlos Pena, who joined the club in a one-year loan deal from Rangers, watched the match from the stands having been recently reunited with Caixinha.

Anyone seeing a pattern beginning to form.

The article is wrong - it was a group game.

As I said when he arrived at Ibrox, he won't see the season out.

The man is a chancer.

Mibbes he will, mibbes he won't but the fact that he has a Mexican League title to his name gives Cruz Azul every reason to hope he can do a job.

Wouldn't be like the media to get things wrong now, would it :ninja:

A case where the journalist, Jack Haugh's best outcome is to be called an idiot.

Ironic that the first line in his article includes "suffered humiliation".

Of course the other possible scenario is that he's deliberately twisted the facts. The lad may go on to do well because Boris 'clownboy' Johnson was sacked as a journalist for making up quotes and that seems to have been helpful in his subsequent career.
