Quote

Jose Mourinho said he "doesn't care" whether people think his Manchester United side deserved the victory over Liverpool which strengthened their grip on second place in the Premier League.

His side barely made it out of their own half in the second 45 minutes. "You can be in control without having the ball, you can be in trouble when you have the ball," Mourinho said.

I was watching it. The Liverpool 'dominance' was limited to a spell at the end of the second half -- interestingly, Mourinho made changes very early to combat it -- and although they may have had the majority of possession throughout, Liverpool were second best.

Typical Mourinho performance: solid to break down, and lethal on the break.

There was some power on Rashford's first goal.

Moreover, Liverpool's goal was an OG, out of nothing!

13 corners; 0 goals.

Although supporters cheer them to the rafters, nowadays, it seems, teams rarely, if ever, score from corners.

Did they ever?  Or is the excitement of gaining this kind of free kick merely hope trumping experience?

For years we have had to listen to the English telling us we are a two game league,  so it gave me a bit of pleasure last night when friends from Merseyside phoned me last night and I asked them what's it like playing in a one team league anyway I still got an invite down to watch Everton my second love .
