Just wanted to say thoroughly enjoying posting & being involved in the Gersnet podcast - a breath of fresh air

You guys seem to grasp what I put up is latest ‘rumours’ & lack of hostility thoroughly enjoyable, some will happen, some will not etc

On the Man City kid link, Gerrard denied this to mates who are out reporting in Croatia

Said nothing imminent coming in & refused to get involved in questioning

(FYI take from that what you want, I have no knowledge of likelyhood simply passing on)

Sadiq didn’t travel because he’s not up to speed fitness wise, that’s all

The last bit is a serious understatement. He has some of the worst numbers seen. Will be a while before he is starting games.

His manager at NAC Breda last season said that he needs to train harder though I don't think he was necessarily talking about lack of fitness.

More along the lines of inconsistent performance in a single game.  Apparently he can  fluctuate between world class and woeful then back again all through a game.

Maybe not quite. Windass can be good then drift out of a match and once he's drifted out he's not coming back in. Seems this boy will always be in the match but can be maddeningly inconsistent as he goes from remarkable to woeful and back again.

I scoured a lot of articles about him and though he may frustrate us at times I feel he's going to produce some classic moments on a regular basis along with his flawed moments which hopefully can be reduced by training that out of him.

All commentators say he's highly unpredictable and very difficult to play against.

Umar Sadiq:

At 6ft 3in he provides a towering presence in the box, but this is paired with excellent technique and good finishing ability. The 21-year-old has been described by former teammates as unpredictable and awkward to play against and his speed and physicality could make him a good match for the Scottish game.

Quote

NAC Breda team-mate Karol Mets

“In a lot of ways, he’s a pain in the ass, in a good way. He’s so unpredictable you don’t really know what’s coming next from him. He’s got the X-factor in that sense.

“Having played against him in training I know he’s a tough kind of guy to mark.

“He can create things for himself because he has good close control and ability and he’ll make things happen for the team. When he came to us he had a knack for scoring against the big clubs in Holland — he got goals against PSV Eindhoven, AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord in the few months he was at the club.

Quote

Former Roma manager Rudi Garcia, who signed Sadiq for the Giallorossi

“He has that big-game mentality, he doesn’t shrink away from a big occasion.

I think it would be a great move for both parties.

“Umar would have much to offer them, but he would also benefit greatly because this is a club with a great tradition and a truly exceptional support.

“I took Marseille to Ibrox for a match last season, and I was very impressed by them.

“It was if they felt they were attending a Champions League tie, not a friendly game.

“Scottish football is certainly very physical, so Sadiq would need to learn how to deal with that aspect of the game.

“But I wouldn’t see that being a problem as he is a good learner, who always listens very carefully to what his coaches tell him.”

Quote

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard

“He would bring us a forward option with his height, power and presence. He's a player who actually works too hard, believe it or not.

“He does tons of running and he's very enthusiastic. He's the type of player who offers just as much out of possession as he does in possession, which is important”

Windass to West Ham Rumour

According to the Scottish journalist,  Bill Young, as cited by This Is Futbol, West Ham are poised to complete the signing of Josh Windass from Rangers before the conclusion of the transfer window.

Young has said that the midfielder will move to the London Stadium for a fee in the region of £4M, the 24-year-old enjoyed a tremendous season for Rangers last campaign, scoring 18 goals in all competitions.

Verdict:

For a fee of £4M, the potential transfer is a low-risk, high-reward, deal. If Windass is able to emulate his goal-scoring antics in the Premier League, then a £4M would represent a bargain for the club. However, if Windass is unable to thrive in England’s top-flight, then it’s likely that we’ll be able to accumulate a good fee for his services.

Time will tell. I'm no footballing valuation expert but if he goes i'm more than confident it will be for well in excess of 300K.  Bill Young has been cited in another article regarding this West Ham link as being a normally reliable source.
