Forrester felled

Recommended Posts

Anyone in the land of reality think Forrester will prove a good acquisition for the Tractor XI ?

Promising first half hour then it'll be downhill from there.

His - IMHO - is a story of quite a few attackers at Rangers these last 1.5 years. We trialled a non-workable 4-3-3 for ages, but essentially used the same players over and over again, be that Wgahron, Windass, or Miller, who IMHO failed to deliver ... because the system hardly suited them. Likewise, it kept people with a certain promise (at the time) off the field, so they ended up with cameo appearances late on or when games needed "action"  ... but with hardly a chance to really make their mark. Forrester, Dodoo, O'Halloran, Herrera and Cummings all fall into that category, even Garner. It is - when it becomes clear that it ain't work with this personell - utterly bizarre to shoe-horn people into a system that simply ain't for them nor working in the Scottish league environment. What use is it to assemble and have a squad when you don't utilize the strengths that certain players have. That stubbornness cost three managers their job and us tons of points.

I don't remember you saying this after each game in the last 2 seasons where you would blame referee conspiracies and bad luck for all the points we kept dropping.

Poor players cost those managers their jobs.  Poor players and their own poor coaching and lack of motivational skills.

Garner had ample opportunity and was simply not very good.

A valid point.  Was always a case of not blaming the manager or the players as there were 22 players on the pitch, a ref cheating etc (to be fair, this one is pretty close to being a valid complaint, certainly after last season).

What is sooooo special about the Scottish game that a tried & trusted formation the world over, doesn't work???

I think it's less about the system utilised, but more about the players on the park & the management behind the system.

We've seen it often where fans cry out for a 4-4-2.....they get it, but also get a poor performance.  Inevitably followed up with "why go 4-4-2.....4-5-1/4-3-3 is more attacking, or more suited to the modern game etc.  Or multiple systems tried, gets met with "why keep changing...players look lost & confused."

Meanwhile, I am told, Waghorn to Sheffield Utd  for circa £5M ......

Wouldn't surprise - he was banging them in for Ipswich last season and made the Championship team of the season I believe..... personally think we should have persevered with Waghorn…. replacing him with Garner (that's who replaced him wasn't it ??) was a mistake.

Waghorn is also a better finisher than Morelos, more natural.

Are Ipswich a feeder club for HFs new club, Tractor Sazi ?
