Over the years I had many meetings about either buying or selling companies. Most of these were only exploratory and came to nothing - and none were even close to the scale of Ashley's business dealings. However, it never failed to amaze me how much these discussions are driven by personality and ego, rather than purely technical or financial matters.I think anyone involved in A&M will confirm this. He has a habit of saying one thing to limit bad publicity then when it all calms down doing the opposite, but at least the signs are down.
