The 6000 figure comes from more than just lowering the pitchthere are a few scenarios where they can add a dozen here a couple of dozen there etc.

Construction work can be done during the season without affecting current capacity.

I think the Rangers board are looking at various options to increase the Ibrox capacity.

And no doubt with one eye on the SFA nonsense about buying Hampden

The op post talks about lowering the pitch. I agree with you both.

Lowering the pitch on it's own surely couldn't produce 6000 additional seats but if you raised the rear seats in the lower tier and sloped the lower tier more steeply you could probably do it - and without altering anyone's view or requiring anything more exotic than new earthworks and a new concrete base for the seating. The hospitality viewing in the Sandy Jardine stand might need to be sacrificed.

As far as I'm aware they won't be changing the angle of the seating, personally I'd rebuild the Copland Front (and Govan East Corner) terracing changing the angle and putting in proper 2 step terracing so safe standing could be installed with a 1.5 - 1.8 ratio, installing safe standing at a ratio of 1 - 1 is pointless as you actually end up with a slightly lower capacity.

The Argyle House Hospitality willl absolutely be changed from the current set up to a more modern style, the glass boxes will be gone.

Engineering might have moved on but the water table certainly hasn't,  if they try and get round this and fuck it up we will have the biggest outdoor pool in world football

Indeed but its perfectly possible to build a water tight box. Or pump room etc etc

The people who built the Channel tunnel seemed to think so. ?
