bbc PQ don’t have to do anything. They don’t need access to Gerrard. The majority of their listeners either detest Rangers or have no interest one way or another. Hopes have been expressed over the years that London will intervene? Why? London has no interest in Rangers. But what about Gerrard’s great achievement? Liverpool fans will be pleased for Gerrard and see evidence of a milestone passed on the road to Anfield. Most of them won’t care that Rangers are champions and the same goes for other English football fans. Some will have respect for Gerrard as a former England captain but he isn’t on the same level as Charlton or Moore. So, London doesn’t have to cater for a constituency demanding access to Gerrard, still less Rangers.

 

Nothing is going to change. Even if we were given McLaughlin’s head on plate, is their next chap going to be any better?

So keen they are on resolving the issue that Sportsound, on the weekend after Rangers won their first title in a decade and "stopped the 10"..... their flagship show was over 40 minutes deep and still hadn't made ONE SINGLE mention of Rangers winning the title.

 

They have zero desire to resolve the issue - they are drip-feeding that story such that they can blame Rangers for it not happening.

Nothing will change with the BBC in general until the licence fee is scrapped and they are forced to go out into the real commercial world for their revenue like all other broadcasters have to do.

 

That revenue will be dependent on audience figures so puerile broadcasts such as Sportsound & Sportscene with their agendas & opinionated presenters will be binned before long.

 

Regards this ongoing ‘dispute’ all that’s required is for the BBC to send someone other than McLaughlin. The club must not give an inch on this.
