UEFA Country Ranking

That's impressive!

However what does it actually mean? Real Madrid in the last 5 years have won the CL twice, been semi-finalists and reached the last 16 twice. How could we possibly have more points than them?

Edit - is it because we had all the qualifying rounds and got loads of points from them?

It is a points ranked chart showing that Rangers have provided lions share of UEFA points for the nation of Scotchland.

It is not a comparison of clubs per say. It basically means that of the clubs in the nation we provided 18.125, or 50% (chart below) of the nations coefficient points.

The chart you've just shared, ranks Rangers 15th, in share of points won, so if you take away the points scored, I would agree with you. However,  the chart in the OP is a direct comparison of the teams on the list, as it is ranked by points scored (contributing to the country ranking), so the question as to why we would be ahead of Real Madrid on 'points scored' is valid. I have no idea.

We earn more points for a win than Real Madrid, at least we have over the past 5 years. The points are based on how many teams are in Europe from your country. That’s why going from 4 to 5 teams in Europe has been bad for us. It has diluted our points further. Scotland’s current position in the rankings is unsustainable and we’ll slide down the rankings pretty quickly now.
