1955 turnaround

Recommended Posts

Got sent this by old pal today, I cannot remember this.

On this day In 1955---- Rangers and Celtic were drawn in the same league cup section.

Both won their opening 3 games--- then met at Ibrox in game 4 --Celtic won 4-1.---- They then met at Parkhead in game 5 --four days later.--- Celtic were confident they could get the win to crown them group winners.

Final score Celtic 0 Rangers 4. -----What a turnaround in four days. Rangers won their last sectional game to top the group and qualify for the quarter finals

Proper cup in those days then?  Sounds like 8 games to win the cup. Only 4 needed these days (for some).
