This illustrates what I kept moaning about with us under Beale: our xG just wasn't high enough - or, the difference between xG and xGA wasn't wide enough; we were riding our luck, hoping our better players carried us over the line.

Who would have funk it? Create more chances and we score more goals.

That's because we had Dessers up front... :D

That is part of it but we never looked like scoring when Dessers and McCausland were replaced.

Sima wasn't a his best, Danilo spent more time sliding about the astro-turf and Cantwell was too busy looking for a fight and picked up another stupid booking.

Lawrence played well but tired (as expected) and shows what little options we have that we had to play Ridvan left wing

I thought Dessers was good today.

Ridvan for Sima was a clever sub to see the game out .

Big Phil did the same on Thursday with Lawrence for Sima after Sima never tracked back for Sparta's goal .

Gutted for young McCausland. That was a great finish, and should have stood. On that form he is our best option for the right wing. As for the game, on the whole I am happy with the result. The first half was certainly better than the second. Like him or not Dessers will have to contribute goals and today he did that. The tifo and minutes silence today were as usual class, well done to those concerned.      WATP
