Aye, he's been quite poor but he is up against Dumfries, who is a very pacey wide man.

Big Denzel is a handful for anyone, but he keeps letting him get the run on him.

Doig doesn't look that great, from the little I've seen today. He's actually made a couple of mistakes.

Cause he is a step down in quality from Ridvan.

He is very much SPFL quality.

However, he is tall enough to ride a roller coaster, and he has only missed 14 games over the past two seasons to injury.

In contrast to Ridvan's 38.

Some weekend gossip ...

Rangers will not face a battle with Celtic for the signature of Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna, with the Scotland international not on Celtic's list of targets. (Record)

Meanwhile, Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis is reportedly keen on joining Rangers and is a more likely option for the Ibrox club than Brighton's Steven Alzate. (Record)

(Given that Dennis is a striker (all-round attacker) and Alzate a DM (box-to-box type), they are not an "option for each other". But homework and the Daily Record are no option for one another either ... )

Twente Enschede left-back Gijs Smal, out of contract at the end of the season, is linked with Rangers. (Sun)

Ridvan Yilmaz may be used as part of a swap deal in Rangers' proposed signing of Hellas Verona left-back Josh Doig. (Record)

Rangers full-back Ridvan Yilmaz is on the verge of a switch to Serie A side Verona, but Rangers' hopes of Josh Doig moving the other way as his replacement are fading (Scottish Sun).

And Rangers have been linked with a move for Dutch left-back Gijs Smal, whose contract with Eredivisie club Twente expires this summer (Daily Star - print edition).

... Scott McKenna and Gijs Smal will be added to the OP soon. The latter seems to be a likelier target than all other LBs mentioned so far, but who knows.

Before this transfer window, I did not really envisage that "left back" would become such a talking point, nor that Ridvan would be willing to go to rock-bottom Verona after being given a constant run in the team. Who knows what is/was going on behind the scenes.

IF he goes, I would hope we won't spend large parts of his money on a LB replacement. After all, albeit not perfect, we have Barisic, Balogun, Devine and even Sterling who can step in there if needed.
