But they are now saying it was offside. Why are they pushing offside when it want a penalty?

They've tied themselves in knots over the non-award and appears even they don't know why it wasn't given.

Hopefully the club keep the pressure on.

Have you got a source for all these VAR releases? I'd love to see them.

Most of this mess is coming from fans and 'journalists' pushing controversy, IMO.

Much debate about the handball penalty and the incompetence of the officials but I thought the Dessers one was more of a penalty because Johnston doesn’t play the ball & brings down Dessers. Was Collum asleep again?

And the biggest mystery of all, how did Johnston & Bernardo avoid second yellow cards? During the live commentary Kenny Miller made the point johnston had committed 3 or 4 fouls since his booking. Only Walsh can explain that one.

When was a Celtic player last sent off at Celtic park against Rangers ?

It's been 13 years since we've had a penalty at Parkhead - kinda goes against the Penalty To Rangers narrative.

I see ex-ref Steve Conroy has confirmed that any offside should not stop a penalty being awarded.

as for red cards, I can't comment but also can't remember the last time they had a red card at Parkhead against us.

No, that's why Conroy says offside is irrelevant in this situation.

As per my above post 😎
offside would have to have been given by the match referee or linesman.

It wasn’t given offside. Play restarted with a goal kick

IFAB:

'The categories of decision/incident which may be reviewed in the event of a

potential ‘clear and obvious error’ or ‘serious missed incident’ are:

[...]

b. Penalty kick/no penalty kick

• attacking team offence in the build-up to the penalty incident

(handball, foul, offside etc.)

• ball out of play prior to the incident

• location of offence (inside or outside the penalty area)

• penalty kick incorrectly awarded

• penalty kick offence not penalised'

The offside ( if it was offside) was missed.
