Alex Ferguson

One of the best at ‘player trading’ before it was a thing. Ince, Kanchelskis, Beckham, van Nistelrooij, Stam, etc etc. sold them for top dollar but after he got the best from them.

Souness at us was also excellent at player trading btw.

Rangers could be set to miss out on striker target Dor Turgeman due to rising conflict in the Middle East, according to reports.

Turgeman has been on the radar at Ibrox and some reports even suggested a deal to bring him from Maccabi Tel Aviv could be close.

Sport 5 report that Maccabi are now thinking it may be unwise to sell on key players as they will find it tough to attract replacements from overseas.

The report suggests the striker "certainly" won't be sold prior to the Champions League qualifiers against Cypriots Pafos next month.

And they may also decide to significantly up the asking price for any of their players who are attracting interest, to make selling up more palatable.

Maybe the Tel Aviv high-ups messed up our transfer plans as well.

Speaking of which, how about keeping this thread on topic?

Not exactly much actual transfer news and I'm quite enjoying the chat about terminology.

You're confusing simplifying football with shouty shouty manager.

You said it yourself, sign the right players.

You want to install a philosophy? Sign players that suit that, don't try and shoehorn.

Walter Smith, Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho have all said at one point or another philosophy is essentially bollox.

You have to build a team in that image, not sign players and try to impose that image on them.

You just keep agreeing with my point, yet use the tone of someone that disagrees, angrily. :D

I think you just don't like the 'buzzwords', which is fair enough. I don't mind either way - it's the same thing.

Style? So, is that the your definition of culture here?

I said style, you said the buzzwords of culture and philosophy

No. Style is another word for philosophy.

Club culture, as I've pointed out several times, is different.

Because of the lack of transfers, or because we don't like hipster jargon and overcomplicating football? 🤓

I think a lot of us were hoping for a big (general) upturn after the takeover announcement but it hasn't materialised.  Too early to get the razorblades though.

Cavanaugh (sp?), Jean-Luc and Thelwell have used the term 'culture', in reference to the need to change the culture of failure.

Don't we all agree? Most have been saying it for ages, e.g. Tavernier.

I don't see the issue, other than an unusual word. It appears to some sort of reverse snobbery.
