All the talk of Capello coming in and shaking things up but nothing different has been done at all. Agreed, i think its a brilliant move from him as well. Beckham is a born leader, wears the gersey with pride. Yeah, it's Trinidad and Tobago's centenary but that's not the main reason. Jack Warner is the vice president of FIFA, the president of CONCACAF (the region in which North/Central America and Carribean sides represent in World Cup qualifying and so on), and is also an MP in Trinidad and Tobago. Most importantly, he himself decides who CONCACAF vote for to get the World Cup in 2018.. which England are bidding for. That's the main reason. So Beckham was made captain for this one off game for PR purposes as much as anything. It just shows you corruption is involved in football at the highest level.
