maineflyer 0
The best man on the park was Bougherra. Miller was indeed awful but midfield continues to inhibit this team with no forward penetration, no width and a complete absence of ambition. The worst performance by some distance came from Walter Smith, the man who told us after we were canned by Kaunas that "he could see that coming". 75 minutes and he makes the last substitution we needed but the one we all knew he would make. Utterly uninspiring and predictable management. Aberdeen, St Mirren, Dundee Utd, Motherwell ......... who's next to show up the weakness that pervades this team.
pete 2,499
I think you're being a little hard on Mendes there Frankie. His form has definitely dipped over the past 2 or 3 games, but those ratings suggest he was the weakest link last night which I don't think was the case. Lafferty had an absolute nightmare of a gme and you scored him higher. WTF? Also Ferguson was IMO by far the poorer of the two in the middle, which as much as that's to be expected, doesn't merit the sympathy vote. Obviously it's going to take time for Barry to get his sharpness up and for the two of them to develop an understanding. This was easier with Thomson as his and Mendes' styles probably complimented one another better. I think they're both good enough players for that midfield partnership to work, but too often last night, Hughes and Lasley were getting the better of them, which is unacceptable tbh. Och well he has had about 4 years up to now to get his sharpness up so what's a bit more time. You would need to get a shot of the Tardis to find any sustained form from him.

As supposedly one of the best midfielders in the SPL you'd expect him to at least have been in the running for a POTY award since he came back, but he hasn't got as much as a shout. I don't think Ferguson is over-rated as such, but his form over the past few seasons has been inconsistent to say the least. In some ways this can be excused by playing through injury and in others it can't. Let's just hope that now he's injury free, he can get onto a good run of form.
