Shocking Rumours

Recommended Posts

Yeah, heard these rumours earlier in the week.

Must admit I'd be incredibly disappointed if either player arrived. Both average journeymen capable of the odd decent game but neither will improve our squad - never mind the team itself.

Wilkie is just a big donkey.

Shiels at least has youth on his side but is not good enough.

They used to say "if you play one good game a season, make sure it is against Rangers, because they will sign you."

There will be many rumours before the end of January i think. Don't believe them all.

No No No...I draw the line at Wilkie! Donkey of the highest order! This is like Gavin Rae.

Its a bit like dejavau like when we signed Gary Bollan, Alec Cleland and Gordon Petric from Utd in WS first era.

Gavin Rae was a pretty good player and more than a few Rangers fans fancied signing him when he was with Dundee - but like many before him he never really handled being at Rangers.

Walter Smith has always had a tendency to sign deadwood and the players you mention are just some of them. Now however, I'm tempted to ask who else you think we could afford. Debt is rising sharply and the money we did have has been squandered on the last intake of deadwood.

Players of the standard of Lee Wilkie are the future for Rangers. I don't see how it can be otherwise unless we can start producing our own - and that will NEVER happen under Walter Smith.

I'm not one of the many Rangers fans who thinks signing a foreigner is automatically better than signing a Scot. However if we're going to get a CB from Scotladn we should look at Berra or even Barr, but never Wilkie.

Agreed, although I'd limit it to Berra, who I think would be a really good acquisition. Somehow though, I think we would struggle to compete for him. Signing Wilkie would simply confirm all our worst fears.
