  1. Past hour
  2. You just keep agreeing with my point, yet use the tone of someone that disagrees, angrily. I think you just don't like the 'buzzwords', which is fair enough. I don't mind either way, it's the same thing.
  3. Hopefully Raskin extends and we keep him this coming season. That's good strategy.
  4. If Tom Boyd had led to Celtic being fined then I wouldn't have a problem with the Brown situation. It is inconsistent and rightly highlighted by Rangers but it is time to move on until someone else calls the ref a cheat. All a bit of a circus, wish we had the football back to enjoy debating the games again.
  5. Not exactly much actual transfer news and I'm quite enjoying the chat about terminology.
  6. Rangers could be set to miss out on striker target Dor Turgeman due to rising conflict in the Middle East, according to reports. Turgeman has been on the radar at Ibrox and some reports even suggested a deal to bring him from Maccabi Tel Aviv could be close. Sport 5 report that Maccabi are now thinking it may be unwise to sell on key players as they will find it tough to attract replacements from overseas. The report suggests the striker "certainly" won't be sold prior to the Champions League qualifiers against Cypriots Pafos next month. And they may also decide to significantly up the asking price for any of their players who are attracting interest, to make selling up more palatable. https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/25257272.rangers-dor-turgemen-deal-doubt-middle-east-conflict/ Maybe the Tel Aviv high-ups messed up our transfer plans as well. Speaking of which, how about keeping this thread on topic?
  7. This is key. One of the best at ‘player trading’ before it was a thing. Ince, Kanchelskis, Beckham, van Nistelrooij, Stam, etc etc. sold them for top dollar but after he got the best from them. Souness at us was also excellent at player trading btw.
  8. Participation medals and money have a lot to answer for imo.
  9. Style? So, is that the your definition of culture here? I said style, you said the buzzwords of culture and philosophy
  10. You're confusing simplifying football with shouty shouty manager. You said it yourself, sign the right players. You want to install a philosophy? Sign players that suit that, don't try and shoehorn. Walter Smith, Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho have all said at one point or another philosophy is essentially bollox. You have to build a team in that image, not sign players and try to impose that image on them.
  11. Tired: get back to the top without Baz Inspired: Baz hounds out the V.L.s
  12. Like implementing a manager's style, the very thing you just said is nonsense?
  13. Let's touch base or circle round on this. 🤢🤢🤢🤢💩💩💩☠️☠️☠️☠️
  14. Let's just rip up the football department and bring back Barry. He'll tell them all some home truths and let them get stuck in. That'll get us back to the top...
  15. Well they are different words, but they are both just white noise in footballing terms. Players either play they way they are asked or they don't. Passing out from back, horseshoe of doom, keeping possession Or we can have low blocks, parked busses and 10 men behind the ball. Outwith that. We can have long balls and whatever other formations and styles teams use, it's not new, it's not culture, and the worse one winning culture, some of our players need bottle. Not these nonsense buzzwords.
  16. Of course you can't. But you still need to put in place the building blocks, like simply looking at the character of the players we're signing.
  17. I'm using shit n shite, in place of tomato/tomatoe. It's so so. Essentially they're the same thing. You can't actually coach or train those things. You either have winners, or you've signed a lot of scared shite and need to get rid.
  18. You just used the term culture yourself! 'Culture of failure', which is what I used, too, a few posts above. Edit: 'loser, fear culture' .
  19. I think that's what bugs me most about it. Bad enough having to tolerate parrots and their buzzwords for 35 hours a week without it creeping into everything else. Orwell: "Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent."
  20. Footballing culture and footballing philosophy are different things.
  21. Reducing football to 'get stuck in' is indicative of the footballing backwater attitude. It's basically Baz Ball. I think you've got it with your third point. That's what we need to build, which is their intent. Who knows if it'll work or not. There are a lot of things we need to get right - including recruiting the right talents and, as you said, characters - to get back to what matters, which is winning games of football. I applaud the new board's intent.
  22. Managers like Walter Smith, Alex Ferguson, Graeme Souness, Jose Mourinho etc have all spoken about how to an extent philosophy chat is bollox. Reputation, culture, identity are attained by doing in my book. And right now, the club has a loser fear culture, and I think a lot of it stems from Tavernier but that's a whole other matter.

  24. Celtc have an affinity for the Japanese. Just saying.
