The player still has another four years left on his contract with the Bundesliga outfit, but due to a lack of gametime, he could be available for a fee of around €5m (£4.2m). Wait ... Europeans aside, Souttar is half-Aussie, Nsiala is half-Congolese, Jefte and Danilo are South Americans (Brazil), Cifuentes too (Ecuador), Ridvan a Turk, Sterling half-Jamaican, Diomande half Ivory Coast/half-Ghana, Igamane North-African ... will we finally look at Asians, or North-Americans? 😱 UEFA-technically ... Ridvan is European too, so too would be Turgeman (but I doubt they see it that way).

Thelwell has apparently been involved for 'months' So given that it is he who supposedly decides on the way forward regards style of play and then, the personnel chosen to fit that. It doesn't make sense that everything has been ripped up. Unless, he didn't really know or didn't decide until the manager (Head Coach) was appointed. If the latter, surely that is the tail wagging the dog.

The game you really want someone to tell you about was Bohemians away in the early 80s. I'd a mate who went and the stories he told are barely believable. Not only was the ground a crumbling shit hole but it turned into a war. He genuinely witnessed a group of guys dig a railway sleeper out of the terrace and try and kill a Dublin copper with it so they could try and steal his gun. They only stopped when they realised Irish polis don't carry guns. Leaving the ground and trying to get to the bus and then the bus trip back to Northern Ireland is the stuff of legend.

The only time I recall crushing at Parkhead was leaving the Jungle. It was a cup semi against, I think, St Johnstone. I only remember it because it was also the day of the Hillsborough disaster. How people didn't die leaving that place I'll never know. I was in the 'Rangers' end a few times but never experienced any crushing beyond the usual 'sway' all terraces had. Ironically the away end at Parkhead was better than the home ends. You had to watch yourself leaving Hampden and both Tynecastle and Easter Road had horrible narrow exits everyone got funnelled through. I quite liked Tannadice and Love Street, they were open terraces with wide exits. Often the polis caused the problems as they closed streets and exits forcing thousands through the same tight space.

The tunnel exiting Tynecastle onto Gorgie Road was a weird experience. Been down it once or twice without my feet touching the ground.

I think it’s pretty clear that Purdy and Thelwell have basically ripped up whatever plans Koppen had in place before they arrived. That probably explains why deals like Oumar Camara (the PSG lad), Cameron Burgess from Ipswich, and Mulligan from Dundee have all quietly disappeared. Thelwell’s obviouslytbeen involved behind the scenes a bit longer, but I’m not sure the same can be said for Purdy. If they’ve come in and decided to start from scratch then the delay makes sense. We’re basically back to square one from the moment they fully took over.
