I agree completely; no reason to change and certainly no reason to wear purple. I'll repeat (an earlier post here) what I said at an AGM some years ago after we wore a two tone purple strip v Partick Thistle. The Glasgow Rangers should always play in some combination of red, white and blue. This brought thunderous applause, though I say so myself. SDM replied that if that what was what was wanted by "the body of the kirk" then so be it. So far as I know that strip was never used again.

There are 26 predictions in out of 32 in the league although there are really only 29/30 taking part. Everyone who has 9 or 10 predicions has predicted for this match and there are only 3 with 7 or 8 predictions who have not yet posted this time. The other 3 who haven't predicted are the bottom three in the league only one of whom has predicted more than half the matches and Sons of Somme only predicted the Peterhead game 12-0. I think this should be declared official now, Zappa . I'll PM the others just to give them a push.

Agreed, asked and answered, thanks. Thanks, that's very helpful.

Laudrup scoring with a header was special because you didn't really expect it from him, much the same as Ronald de Boer who was a brilliant header of the ball though known more for setting up goals, he was a frequent scorer as well with his head and feet.

I agree with you on that, all I was saying was that short corners can back-fire but then again McLeish was the manager then and he moved Ricksen who had been playing well in centre mid to RB as McLeish told me later "I put our best man on their best man" and Khizanishvili who had been slotting in at RB into centre mid "because Arveladze told me he could play there". So what happens "Rangers made the worst possible start when, having made a mess of a short corner, the home side conceded possession and the ball found its way to Benjani Mwaruwari, who in turn found Kalou. Kalou escaped the attentions of Khizanishvili to chip the ball over Stefan Klos and though his first effort came back off the bar, he had a simple task to tap the rebound into an empty net.....If anything, Rangers' start to the second half was even poorer as they lost a second goal less then two minutes after the break. Kanga Akale picked up on a loose Khizanishvili header, crossed for Kalou, who spun past Boumsong and slotted the ball past Klos. " http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4095333.stm Another good thing about Warburton is that he almost always leaves at least one and sometimes two up the park when we are defending corners unlike McCoist and his mentor Smith who even had Darcheville hobble back to stand on the line, sometimes not even getting there on time.

Pete, it's a fair point about Zappa but that could happen to anyone in all fairness and it wouldn't cause the league to be suspended. Also he made it clear that there were no "standy predictions" this season so those going on holiday had to PM or email him in advance and he's usually very strict about the rules. Anyone who has PM'd him will obviously be counted even if it's at a later date. So far there are about 20 predictions inc rbr who posted to the thread about an hour ago, which is not much different from a "normal" Friday night.

Bit unfair, he has played in a winning team v Celtic. -

SDM once said very few players, (especially young players) have ever left Rangers and bettered themselves, McCabe is one of many who should never have left; he should be an example to today's youngsters. That said he's had a lot of injuries and has only played 40 games in the past 3 seasons; he's young and talented enough to turn his career around if he can stay fit and healthy. -
I think this is fair comment unless you have a really powerful aerial threat there's not much point in lobbing corners into the box. McCulloch was useful in that scenario as was Daly from crosses. That's said short corners can back-fire. We lost a goal straight from one v Auxerre at home if I recall.

This needs a lawyer but reading 2 and 3 together it seems that broadly if the judges are unanimous (which they were not last time) then you need permission to appeal to the CoS.

I am hopeful, but by no means certain that what will happen here (if the rumour is correct) is the HMRC will say that they accept the verdict of the courts but will seek to have the law changed to avoid a recurrence of what TBH is a bit of a loophole, in the future. On the other hand given that apparently so many other cases depend on the outcome of our case, they may still fight it all the way, on the grounds that the potential benefit to the taxpayers as a whole outweighs the cost of the court action.

It would be interesting to know on what grounds leave to appeal is either granted or refused.
