  1. There's a nother reason - ground safety certification. That's why a lot of the top Junior teams e.g. Pollok and Auchinleck are very happy where they are and why there wasn't exactly a scramble to join the new Lowland League.
  2. Bear in mind that we need to have teams to play against and even some in the lower or indeed higher reaches of the current SPFL struggle to attract more than 3,000. However, it's hard to see how a realisitic audit of Scottish "senior football" would find 10 viable premier league clubs never mind 16. As it happens the ones lower down with 300/400 fans actually ARE viable because they cut their cloth accordingly.
  3. That's spot on, there are too many so called "senior" football teams in Scotland who are little more than village/pub teams who have no interest in being anywhere other than where they are at present. Two divisions of 16 is more than we can accommodate; one 16 team league and regional leagues would be a far better option.
  4. I can assure you that Neil Doncaster has always been in favour of a 16 or 18 team top division but the Clubs who pay his wages are not, or at least the SPL Clubs are not. However, having adjusted to the finances of a Rangers free SPL for the past 4 seasons, surely there will never be a better time to change? There will be little or no difference between two home games v Celtic or one against each of the old firm.
  5. A chance to have two games against bigger clubs in a sectional league cup and a more equitable distribution of the monies available.
  6. So far the glue is holding up, TB, many thanks for kind thoughts.
  7. I'd be extremely comfortable if Admin or the OP closed this thread now; I think it's served it's purpose which is very much appreciated and I'd rather it didn't get out of hand. If considered appropriate, it could be re-opened or I'll post a note when I get the pathology results due on 8 October. Thanks again for all good wishes. BH
  8. I think THANKS + AGREE , kind of equals a SUPER AGREE and I think Admin trialled a DISAGREE button once but it got too hot to handle.
  9. Glad that got sorted out, I cause enough trouble without adding to it unintenionally.
  10. The lump out my throat.
  11. We don't all your expensive tastes Juan (or the wallet to indulge them) but no doubt the pathology will reveal all
  12. On the mend thanks, SBS; but anxiously awaiting the pathology results as you can appreciate. Considering change of name to scarthroat
  13. Thanks, GS. So long as the glue on my throat holds out, things should be good; bit worried about the pathology results awaited but as the surgeon said even if any of the lumps were malignent he has excised them anyway.
  14. Agree with Craig's comment at #29 above
  15. No offence taken by either comment, the theme of the thread is lighthearted and "get well soon" sentiments all much appreciated. I know StevC well enough to know his humour is like mine.
  16. 7/10 days but as I'm semi retired permission has been ngranted to double that. Exception made for arranging the Gersnet Dinner.
  17. Thanks to CM for starting the thread and all who agreed and posted their own messages. Very much appreciated. Truth is that I went in for what should have been a relatively straightforward parathyroidectomy (removal of an overactive parthyroid gland) day surgery, that has caused excess calcium in the blood which in turn leads to osteoporosis. Unfortunately despite various scans pointing the way, the surgeon could not find the slippery bastard where it was expected to be but he found one within the thyroid gland itself and took out half of the thyroid itself (hemithyroidectomy) with the lump and also an "abnormal" Adenoma https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adenoma he found behind the carotid artery. Either way both have been excised and pathology results awaited. I was kept in overnight and discharged today. The good or bad news depending on your viewpoint is that he managed to miss my vocal chords which are millimetres from the glands (so I can still talk) and the carotid artery or I wouldn’t be typing this message now. Managed to catch the last 10 minutes of the match on my phone after visiting time and was comforted by Tavernier getting me 4 points in the Prediction League. Thanks again for all kind messages.
  18. 38 GG or HH depending on the brand
  19. Don't worry I'm chasing you up the League.
  20. It's permanent nothing the surgeon could do apparently.
  21. Actually had both hernias done some years ago but the massive boobs will no doubt cause back problems
  22. The President of NARSA tells me he read about it in the Press Release; I wonder if anyone has told the redoubtable Mr Hannah.
  23. But is he a Global Ambassador? What skill set is needed to perform such a role? I trust this is an unpaid position that will allow him to "do all (he) can to help promote Rangers".
  24. I think one of the issues here is describing the kits as "home" and "away". Those of a certain age will recall that it always used to be the home team that changed if there was a clash of colours and the strips only used to be changed every three years, then it became two years, then they changed one very other year and now they all seem to be changed every year. I also seem to recall rules that described the first kit/home strip as "registered colours". So Rangers registered colours would be (royal) blue shirts, white shorts and black sox with red tops. The detailing/piping isn't an issue. Then there would an alternative or "first alternative" strip, which if you look back to the old pictures was generally white (with blue piping) or blue and white stripes in the early 60's. I am with those who say that the alternative strips should be a mirror image of the registered colours, so white with blue and red detailing would do for me, or red with white and blue detailing if you prefer. If you have a blue or red strip as your first two choices it is hard to imagine many circumstances where you would need a third choice, except perhaps playing Barcelona, when white tops would work. Agreed. All teams need an alternative strip but the rest is just marketing.
  25. That's quite an interesting point because when this was under discussion it was quite clear that singing songs in support of proscribed organisations was an offence but I strongly questioned why singing songs opposed to the singing of such offensive songs was also regarded as offensive; an entirely illogical concept in my opinion. Unfortunately that's where politics and what was regarded as even handed policing departed from all logic; a fact that the police admitted at the time but advocated that position nonetheless.
