That's correct Zappa, although there was quite alot of support amongst fans for an 18 team league it was very much second choice. Of course both 16 and 18 team leagues imply only playing each other twice a season but SD had a solution in the Fan's Plan with a return to an old style regionalised sectional league cup, which would produce other additional derby games as well. When I was involved I did point out that there was a law of diminishing returns where the old firm games were concerned and that conversely if there were only two such a season then there would be a scarcity value as well. If you remember back to when we played them 7 times in a season Rangers couldn't sell all the tickets for the cup tie. We put forward 2 leagues of 16 because there are far too many so called senior football teams in Scotland anyway. Pre-SPL old firm games, especially at New Year, really were something to look forward to but in recent years typically playing 5 or 6 times, sometimes became a bit routine.

That is spot on. They have no interest in any other games other than Hearts v Hibs in a minor way.

It's nothing new, fans have been calling for a 16 team top league for years.

Can I suggest we are lying low as far as the SFA are concerned right now? -

I do not believe that Regan has any anti-Rangers agenda but some of his employers are another matter. -

Well, Craig, we weren't talking about alternatives but knowing what we know now about the player contracts if nothing else, of course I wouldn't have L&L back. Let's see the colour of King's money before we worry about alternatives. -

I see nothing prejudicial in the interview nor do I see why he could be faulted for giving it. But I do agree with your comments about Celtic and your conclusion. -

And I respect your right to your opinion, regardless of any fit and proper test; though it would be interesting to speculate on the criteria that might be employed. -

Which is exactly why I don't want him anywhere nearer our Club than I wanted Sandy Easdale. -

Which would be why he pled guilty I assume? If King has such evidence then the should move to have his convictions quashed but I think he might have some difficulty considering his guilty pleas. So long as he stands convicted I very much doubt that the SFA will look any further than that, regardless of what is reported in the SA press. BTW Have you read the judge's verdict? -

Whether or not Mr Regan has a lisp is completely irrelevant and I don't see that you enhance your argument by such intended offensiveness. I have been in a number of meetings chaired, attended and face to face with Mr Regan and I have never seen it as an issue. -

Zappa, you often make assumptions about me or what I do or think that are completely wrong; none more so than on this occasion. I should have made it clear that I was stating my opinion and will go back and so edit. I am possibly in a better position than most to make an informed judgement but it's no more than that. You are correct, however, that I would have been in a position to input the debate but I chose not to and am equally sure I would have got short shrift in any event. I am comfortable that those who have the task of making this decision will exercise their judgment in an appropriate manner and need no help from me. -

The decision but of course that's just my humble opinion. You can probably guess that I was tempted to say the decision would be overturned on appeal and it may well be. A lot might depend on the make up of the panel. I'm in little doubt that any mitigation that King puts forward to the SFA Board will not be sufficient for them to exercise their judgement in his favour and against the specifics in the Rules but an Appeal Board might be tempted to say that it is in the best interests of football in this country. I doubt it but they might. I can't see any other way the SFA or an Appeal Board would justify a "fit and proper" finding when he clearly fails two of the set criteria. I also think it will be very difficult for the SFA but perhaps less difficult for an Appeal Board to find P Murray "fit and proper" but not King, and vice versa. If they found for Murray but against King then it would be tantamount to saying that one of the citeria carries less weight than the other and whilst some might argue that the convictions are more serious than being a director of a company that suffered an insolvency event, I'm not sure that the SFA might not actually think the other way. As some have argued the convictions MIGHT carry less weight because they were in SA (not because the SA Government now deal with his companies, which is irrelevant) whereas the insolvency event was not just in this company but the the very Club where he now seeks to become a director again. In my opinion that is a much bigger hurdle to overcome that some might think. I've tried to write the above as dispassionately as I can; it is well known I would rather Mr King had nothing to do with our Club. -

And IMHO they will stop King too and let him take it to appeal where it (the decision) will most likely be upheld. -

BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I wouldn't necessarily disagree but it's certainly a massisve mistake by Doncaster who thinks he runs Scottish Football and Regan who is employed to do just that. Regan probably pissed himself laughing when he saw the news yesterday; knowing it couldn't possibly stand up. -
As I'm sure you appreciate your wife will always be correct, particularly if she ensures that if they are food items they will be consumed before going out of date. In addition you have to consider inflation because you will lose little value in interest on the expenditure and the items may well go up in price before she buys them again. Take care with items like wine, however, where there is a balance between maturity and vinegar, as I know to my cost.

The SFA had to go through the motions on this; but the size of the fines in comparison with Ashley makes it clear where they feel the real blame lies.

A surprsingly poor decision by Doncaster who is not usually someone who allows himself to be pushed around and a surprising victory for common sense led by the much criticised Regan and the SFA. Knowing what I know of the two, I would imagine that Regan is having rather more than a quiet chuckle to himself at Doncaster's self imposed embarrassment over this dramatic own goal. -

The SFA allowed themselves to be thwarted by Whyte's lawyers; clearly that's not going to happen this time. -
OK, I'll buy it from him for £10.50 and sell it to you for £21, how about that
-
Well that's at least one you won't be able to level at me, I have never bought a replica strip in my life. Anyone who pays £48 for that never mind £60 regardless of who is selling it must have money to burn. I have bought a few of the polo shirts over the years and quite fancy this striped one at £10.50

Looking at the back on the web site there is no white showing over the shoulder.

And a bargain at £47.99 with £12 off! How much was this season's; I see the long sleeve is curently on offer for £17.99
