I read he was actually one of Charlton's better performers last season. But I don't think he'd improve us at the moment. Id rather have taken Novo back on a 1 year deal as an impact player coming off the bench.
  2. Came to the club at a tricky time and everyone expected a winning team. All the best to the guy.
  3. I think you get various types of player - naturally talented like Messi who is purely attack minded but could play any where in midfield or upfront. Then you get vertilise players like say McCulloch who can and will play anywhere for the team. He isn't the most naturally gifted but will still fit in in different areas. Could Messi play centre half or as a holding midfielder? Probably yes but he wouldn't be as nearly as effective at professional La Liga level. Players obviously get a natural and favoured position and it that high level a team should be playing to all players strengths for the benefit of the team....so therefore I always prefer to see players in 'preferred' positions. Opposition will expose the team if they see a slight weakness and in turn it can reflect on the players. Also you can maybe get away with 1 or 2 players out of your XI at max playing slightly out of position. But when you have 4 or 5 then the proof will be in the pudding on the park.
  4. Ive got a few quid on them to win it.
  5. Id have started the season with Little and McCulloch. They finished last season scoring goals and it should be up to Clark and Daly to shift them....
  6. Glad Everton won but pity that wee rat scored the winner. Arsenal marching on towards the title....
  7. Injuries aside I'm with Amms, Thomson wasn't a player for me, he couldn't lace Stuart McCalls boots as a holding midfielder. Thomson's style says all that's wrong with Scottish type player....he'd get passed off the park on the European stage. At the start of decade when Thomson moved Scotland could field Lambert, B Ferguson, McAllister, and Collins, now they are proper quality Scottish players.
  8. I wouldn't use this as an example. Professional footballers are supposed to be full time, but training 9-12 then given free lunch then playing a playstation or shopping in the afternoon doesn't constitute FT. If they were already training (and by training I don't mean full on exercise / tactics etc, I just mean 'at work') then doubling their duration at Murray park from 8am to 8pm would be harsh.
  9. The problem was people wanted over night results. Ok PLG's season wasn't great and we fell behind in the title race but there was games were we was playing great stuff. And you only have to look how long it took Alex Ferguson to build Man Utd up between 1986 and 1990 until he won his first trophy. Since then they have had 2 decades of constant success and in the first 5 years the money wasn't always the key factor like it is today with Sky and sponsors.
  10. I thought the opposite. Brown was always the better player out of those 2 for me. He does act the dick but on his day is a good player.
  11. I know the PLG v Barry Ferguson subject has been debated a lot over the years but now these words comes straight from the best manager of all time. And he highlights a few things that were the route of the PLG v BF debate.
  12. Whittaker was one of the most frustrating players ive ever seen wear a Rangers shirt. I actually thought he played his best games for us at LB when he filled in for a while. I didn't mind him at RB but never liked him in midfield. Same went for Ricksen.

  14. Ok posted this in forum support room before seeing this thread.
  15. Same group of players that Levein had and Strachan has got credibility back. Had he been in charge at the start we'd be pushing for 2nd place. We'd have picked up 4 or 6 points in the first 2 games. The only result that wasn't Leveins fault was away to Wales. We were the better side winning 1-0 and had a goal wrongly ruled out. Belgium at the moment are a top 5 side in Europe so losing at home to them isn't one to worry about. This squad can move onto thinking about qualifying for France 2016.
  16. Logged in today and forum asked me to change password as mine had expired after 2255 days...wasn't sure if the forum had been hacked or what.
  17. Agree, the 3rd kit is our best out of this seasons kits.
  18. Arrogant twat. I felt he was a bit unlucky at Spurs, Redknapp came in and chose his own team when Hutton was playing well, but a move to Villa should have been good for him.
  19. I hope he doesn't turn out to be the new Jardel....signed and sitting in the stands but never played a game and disappeared.
  20. As per previous seasons I will step in if someone forgets just to get the match preview chat going....but I still haven't seen us play this season so anything I come up with will be spur of the moment.
  21. We managed it with Sandaza when we found out he was about as useful as Marcus Gayle. Id take Zaliukas straight away. Proven player at SPL level and not an unknown.
  22. Ian was spot on when he said you should go out looking to win every game. That is the philosophy Id have as a manager, none of this playing for a draw nonsense. If you drop points then you should then re-group and be going for the maximum possible AFTER that. Its obvious a team isn't going to go through a season winning every game but it should still be the target. Really not sure where you get the idea it would make you desperate and start making mistakes, that's bad planning and management for me....
  23. Whats everyones favourite Gers kit?? Frankie, do you still have that link which you posted maybe 3 years ago with all Gers kits - Home / Away / 3rd? Without doubt for me the 1994-96 Adidas home kit...that's was off the hook!! And the purple 3rd kit in 1994-95 is a close second. Our away in 1992-93 with the Adidas equipment - white with red stripes on shoulder - that was quality also and reminds me of our Champions league venture against Marseille. Happy days.
  24. Kevin Thomson? That's a baffling one. Wallace is a no brainer, should easily be Scotlands first choice LB.
