  1. I dont think he can do it himself he's been dubious in the SPL and now in Div 3. Im not saying Calderwood is a genius but when you think about the situation we are in what experienced quality manager would want to have a 3-4 year stint building a team back up the leagues. Its going to take someone who wants the actual challenge. Id prefer not to have Calderwood, he'd be down the list for me but what the fans want and who we are capable of attracting in Div 3 are two different things. All I can say as Pro-Calderwood argument is id rather have him than McCoist at the moment. Calderwood took a poor Aberdeen team into the UEFA cup and drew with Bayern a few years ago, McCoist got knocked out of CL and Europa by teams who I cant even remember.
  2. You've redeemed yourself The SFL has been far more organised and professional and if I was in the SFL Id be looking at the situation as if I held all the cards. The SFL now has a half of the 'bread winners' in the country and that member is the biggest club in the country. Also have more member clubs and comparing the standard and size of some teams in Div 1 they are equal to most SPL clubs. Id be telling the SPL to jog on unless the SFL call the shots. The SPL got greedy and buried the SFL and the Scottish game in the 90s this is karma. What is refreshing is there is no hatred in this league. We are being welcomed at every town and ground we go to and we are welcoming teams and fans who enjoy the day trip to Ibrox. The hatred is still coming from the media and SPL clubs who seem bitter about out exsistance.
  3. Not often I disagree with you but who exactly can develop McCoist into this great manager? Durrant and McDowall chewing their gum and writing on a note pad doesnt fill me with confidence that they are on the right track. For 1000th time McCoist needs a proper No.2 to help him develop although whats frustrating is he done his trade with Walter at Scotland then at Rangers and when he looked after the Cup games under Walter he actually played attacking footbal but when he stepped into the hot seat he has been nothing short of clueless on occasions bar a couple of good games early last season. Not winning this league is not worth thinking about, even going up via a play off would be slightly embarrassing. I do actually think we will eventually get to the top of the league with winning most home games and we will start to win away matches but the style of football has been shocking and when we get top of the league it will be papering over cracks. Your comment on Calderwood is unfair. We arent comparing them as Rangers legends, we are looking at them as football managers and based on records with resources Calderwood comes out on top with flying colours.
  4. Well said that man. Couldnt agree more. And he's bring back Adidas strips
  5. Good comeback for Juventus. And speaking of comebacks Darren Fletcher returned for Man Utd. Good to see him back, never nice a player having to retire early to illness or injury. He's not my favourtie player in the world and I think he's a tad over rated but still good to see all the same. He has strong work rate. The problem for him is when he plays for Scotland he becomes the highest profile player and people expect a lot of him but at Man Utd he's a work horse and in the shadows of Rooney, Giggs, Scholes etc
  6. I dont see why Calderwood would be such a poor appointment, we are 4th in Div 3!!!!!! If we were 4th in the SPL then of course he wouldnt be on my list but some need to grasps the situation we are in. We have still 8 months of Division 3 football which we have to get out of then another 24 months of lower league football at the least. McInnes wouldnt leave the Championship to come to Div 3. He is up against Leeds, Middlesboro, Sheff Wed, Wolves, Bolton, Blackburn, Notts Forest etc. How could he leave going to those grounds to go to Elgin and Brechin in the next few years.
  7. Surprised nobody has bitten onto this comment. He'd be well down my list but was he any worse than McCoist at tactical decisions? It should be someone with enthusism and someone who hasnt been around during the recent times. Id like to see someone like Kevin Keegan. But in Div 3 Billy Davies and Jimmy Calderwood would be more than good enough. Its just when we do get back to the top cant see the fans taking to either due to the popularity thing.
  8. Real Madrid v Man City was a good finish. Glad RM nicked it and Mourinho's celebration was pretty cool. Chelsea v Juventus could be a cracker tonight. If Benfica win thats a bonus.
  9. I was wondering what Greens reaction would be more than anyone else. He's put in the investment and has to deliver the club back to the top. He must be starting to have some doubts about Allys ability now after 3 league draws and 1 cup exit out of 6 matches. And we were 2nd best at Berwick and Peterhead.
  10. There isnt a lot that can be disagreed with. I think Calderwood is a decent shout, yes it wouldnt be the most attractive name but in Div 3 and then 2 more years at least of SFL football we have to be realistic. TBH he did well with Aberdeen and they have struggled badly before him and after him. Ally has suffered from not taking on a better coaching and management team since day 1.
  11. Stuart McCall isnt doing a bad job on a tight Motherwell budget.
  12. Souness or Billy Davies.
  13. Judgement period was always going to take around 6 games (excluding what we saw last season). Thats is 4 draws over 90 minutes with one going onto a defeat on pens. Im afraid it is time to ask the realistic time to ask the question. At the minimum we have to bring in a better assistant to help him make changes when he needs it. Thanks for the last 9 months Ally, you pulled us through a dodgy patch and maintained your dignity but Im doubting the management / tactical ability.
  14. Certainly will be super Sunday this coming weekend. Liverpool v Man Utd and Man City v Arsenal. I fancy 2 away wins.
  15. What has happened with Hutton. Is it his attitude that is to blame? He is potentially an absolute cracking full back but does he see himself as a bit of a hard man? He made a move to Spurs then Redknapp came in and didnt fancy him for some reason. Its a shame that talented Scottish players cant do well down south. Hutton and Craig Gordon was quality on their day but have faded. They should try abroad.
  16. Just reading the McCoist job thread....and whilst Ally has been spectacular for Rangers off the park in the last 12 months if you remove that is he still the man for the job? Are people who want him to stay basing it on his good work off the field. Ive been screaming for a year now that he needs a stronger Assistant and that might just make a manager out of him. Someone who can say "lets make a change now"...I personally think thats all he needs and he had Walter to do this when he was No.2 but now he doesnt have that authorative call. We all saw some dodgy tactical stuff last season.....but as we had Admin over us Ally always had excuse. This season its his team and his players. And we should be winning Div 3 games. Absolute legend and hero but we cant let sentiment get in the way...Its a must Rangers get promoted this season. I hope it works out for him but Im having doubts.
  17. Awesome Arsenal. First half was a joy on the eye. Now to go to Man City next Sunday and win.
  18. But Levein wouldnt play him.
  19. I have said after 6-8 games we can judge. Now thats 3 away games and McCoist hasnt won any in the lowest league. I think there could be a mental block going on here. But we all knew he had tactical problems after last season. Would I take a change now?? Yes absolutely. However like Pete says we will win the league by around 20 points down to home form. But FFS bring if Ally doesnt move on bring in a experienced No.2!!!!!
  20. Well done Metlika. Sheff Utd cost me. Had a 5 fold of Arsenal, Man Utd, Bolton, Hull and Sheff utd.....would have been around 300 quid.
  21. They havent been tested yet. Only played 3 average teams who dont score much goals anyway. If Vermaelen wasnt playing in those games it could have been different, he is awesome and could be the best centre half in the league this season. Even going forward he is good. But thats 3 good games for them to gel and try out what Bould is doing in Training. Tomorrow against Southampton is another good fixture yet they have put 4 past the two manchester teams so will have a go.
  22. Before the game is a nonsense. Just let the players run out wave to the fans and stay in their own half. End of the match shake of hands.
  23. Glad internationals is over and we get back to the real stuff. Big weekend in the Premier League, the table should start to stake shape in the next couple of games. Tips for the weekend: Arsenal v Southampton - Home Win Aston Villa v Swansea - Draw Fulham v West brom - Home win Man Utd v Wigan - Home Win Norwich v West Ham - Away Win QPR v Chelsea - Draw Stoke v Man City - Draw Sunderland v Liverpool - Home win Sunday Reading v Tottenham - Home win Monday Everton v Newcastle - Home win
  24. Ive got one saying meet Chinese Ladys
  25. I listed Redknapp in my first post. He'd get the team attacking and probably would have won both games this week. If he got us to Brazil then it might inspire the younger generation to get back into playing football and put down the Wii for a while. Its the SFAs responsibility for structuring the development. The national team manager just has to go get us to win games.
