SPL hold crunch talks with Sky over possible eight-year TV deal

Double edged sword.....if we don't have a license, there is no TV money to distribute!!! -
SPL hold crunch talks with Sky over possible eight-year TV deal

My understanding of the situation is that the SPL should have no control over out SFA license. The SPL are a seperate body from the SFA. It is the SFA & only the SFA as the countries governing body that has the authority to issue the transfer of license. However, the SPL are the ones that historically have generated the majority cash, and are therefore sticking their noses in!!! -
Official: Kennedy bids £5.6m for 51% of the club

Totally agree..... Kennedy, McCall, Park etc are all business men - They want to make money. You haven't made their millions by buying high & selling low. They want to take control at as cheap a price as possible. Their plans failed coz Green's consortium went to a financial level that they weren't prepared to go to. -

The big question is....Why is Liewell involved. Last I check he wasn't an SPL official/board member, yet he is involved in negotiating a deal with SKY. It would then be no surprise if any agreement that is reached is weighted heavily in Ceptic's favour.... -
Two new players at Auchenhowie: Beattie and Black

There are still plenty of players who want to play for the RFC jersey!!! -
I was originally quite excited when Kennedy originally came to the table - he has a good record with Sale Sharks, and he has plenty of personal wealth. However, all his pussy-footing about has made me change my opinion somewhat. I would like CG to stick firm to the notion of no one shareholder owning more than 15%. There would be NOTHING stopping Kennedy, McCall, Park etc stumping up a couple of £m each for a 15% stake.

The primary focus right now should be getting the license transferred over. If that means conceding to certain sanctions, then so be it. It is better to have a club that is handicapped by temporary sanctions than have no club at all. While I do agree that the club needs to stand firm, and argue it's case.....I also believe that there will need to be some give & take, and some ground will need to be given.

How nice would it be if in a few years, the SPL goes completely tits-up. The SFL, then being the more dominant power, states that they already have a top division & if any former-SPL team wishes to join them, they would have to start at the bottom. By this time RFC are sitting pretty at the top of DIV 1. Many a smile round Govan way methinks!!!

Is that a slight change of tune I'm detecting??? Are you starting to warm to CG a bit??? -

by getting shares for his "investment" means he can hopefully turn a profit on the venture!!! -

Would fans be happy with this??? Since Admin, fans have been stating that they don't want a single owner running things again. The current setup ensures that there is not one single "owner", but instead a multitude of shareholders/owners etc. If Kennedy gets 51% that then gives him the majority share, and therefore back to a single owner. -
I would love RFC to be invited back to the SPL, only for us to decline stating our reason as "Sporting integrity"!!!
-
Imho...we have to be sensible. Fighting the authoritise via the courts isn't reqlly gonna help things. The idea that we "go down fighting" is nonsense. Do we REALLY want the club to die?? We need to get the license transfered asap, then do the fighting from within & following the defined proceedures. Club survival is the no.1 priority and should out way everythong else.
-
Do that, and you kill the club for good!! There is no way that the club could survive for 12 months with out kicking a ball.
-
Is he not banned from having ANY involvement in Scottish Football. I would include owning a club as having some involvement.
-
It was the unpaid PAYE/NI that put us into Administration. Whyte stated that he was going to look into Administration, HMRC forced his hand!!! The £55m was total debt owed by the club, but without the HMRC stuff, it was manageable.
-
The stripping of league titles shouldn't even be getting discussed in relation to the SFA membership - it is nothing to do with the SFA, and nothing to do with why we require the license transfer. Also, the reason for title stripping hasn't even be concluded yet. Why are the SPL even involved in the SFA license process???
-
I felt they should have got Griffiths last season. I think he could have done an excellent job - is he available though.
-
Transfer windows are irrelevant if we can't register the players with the SFA!!!
-
He REALLY doesn't like or trust CG at all does he???
-
IF that was the case, then Whyte's takeover is definitely illegal!!! ie. Using club assets/money to fund a take over.
-
Green ain't the owner!!!! He is the CEO - the person in charge of running the club. A change of ownership would require all current shareholders to sell up - there is no single point of ownership now!!! Note: sorry for the wee rant, but folk are up in arms about misrepresentation in the media.....yet some Rangers folk still get it wrong!!!
-
I think folk are trying to plan things as normal. There ain't a lot of time till the Brechin game, so it makes sense to get the ground work done just now on the assumption that the license transfer will be granted.
-
Not yet....
-
All assuming that we have a license by then of course....
