I keep hearing people saying he would be brilliant. I have only seen his highlights reel but I don’t see it? He looks a natural winger and not a striker. His record isn’t inspiring either. Is he really hood enough?
I think Gerrard wants the front 3 to be pretty fluid. In as much they can play in all 3 positions during the game. Roofe would offer that with his versatility alongside Kent and Hagi.

Numan was injured when we signed him lucky if he played 20 games in his first season with us.

Sorry guys I never rated Flanagan since seeing him in his debut and even playing as over-age player in the Irn Bru cup hence the reason I have no regrets in him going.
As for Halliday/Alnwick they at least made decent contributions when playing but I would admit not always.
A couple of others either permanent or loanees that could certainly go again in my own estimation are Barker and Ojo.
Flanagan not a great player but played in position was always solid backup in my opinion. Never hid in games and ran himself into the ground.

Another question not brought is "would any player who took a wage drop automatically return to what their contract agreement?"
I'd guess there would be a clause or amendment to the contract to ensure that.

i'll always remember Charlie Millers cross for Laudrup.

Entirely on players I've seen.
Goram.
Stevens.
Numan.
Gough.
Butcher.
McCall
Steven (1st time)
Gascoigne.
Laudrup
Hateley
McCoist.
Could give lots of honourable mentions to different midfielders we had under Advocaat but would only start second guessing myself.

Three strikers up top now? Wow.
For months it's been, 'play two up top, that's the solution!'. We played two up top last night and scored... nothing. If three strikers don't work, do we play four?
I agree we've got a conversion problem, but I disagree it's the formation that is the issue.
For me, the main reason is a lack of movement, intent and tempo. If you combine that with our clear psychological problems, it's a nightmare; our players look completely inept.
The people that say we've been figured out are not seeing the big picture.
We've been figured out from day one. It's not difficult to see how we play. Gerrard needs to address why we don't consistently apply the press.
Braga to Hearts was night and day. In effective and non effective use of it.
Agree. It isn't the formation.
It's the attitude of the players which then leads on to Gerrard and his management team persisting with them.
Which brings bigger questions on squad depth.

As much as I like Tav. We've not had a great captain in a long time.
Weir was probably the last great one.
In terms of our 4-3-3. It really comes across if we have urgency in our play and the press we employ. We function as a unit pretty well.
If we don't have that then we really struggle.
We've not been doing that domestically recently. We seem content to let teams sit deep, which just puts pressure on our forward players to find a chance.
Where in theory if we press when they're so deep and they lose possession.
We should be right on top of them posing a significant threat.

No, perhaps from the bench.
I'd start with Kamberi and Defoe up front.

Checked said article and it looks no more than wild speculation.
One may argue that Barker has reasonably underperformed, but has been given next to no chance to get any continuous game time whatsoever. That is not solely his fault, but to keep him in any shape or form he sure needs game time, so a loan will be a good option for him. Any cash we will receive should he go will be a bonus, as he was a freebie. 10k a week? Well, I don`t know the wage structure, so throwing figures about and commenting on them is a waste of space. those sanctioning his deals and wages are those in place right now, and even if he was an Allan signing, someone would have signed under that.
Jones would be somewhat bizarre, unless there was something we don`t know about. Thing is, bar a couple of games, Jones has sure not let us down, is just back from injury and even in that short cameo against Tashkent, he had good spells.
And as a wee remark, after Grezda left, we would essentially sent away any sort of back-up for Kent if those two were going, as they are both left wingers by trade. Any new player would by default be second choice to Kent still.
Hastie back ... so we would have some pressure on Ojo ... who rarely plays these days too? IMHO, our main threat on the right would be Stewart (albeit being a striker first and foremost), who`s injury was rather untimely (how often did we have that?). For some reason or another, we either play Ojo (who far too often slips into "EPL u23 - mode") or shoe-horn Aribo in a right-attacker role that ain`t his. So getting Hastie back to have a real right-winger may help to get more balance. BTW, methinks Josh McPake can`t go anywhere (bar back to the club we loaned him too), so may get a call-up to the first team. Would be interesting, but not a desirable option unless injury and suspension happen by.
EDIT ... just checked Hastie`s stats again, who have changed since he joined us, as Rotherham uses him primarily as a left winger. 16 games, 3 goals, 1 assist. In the 3rd tier of the English game. Dunno whether he will be the spark that tears down the Scottish brick-walls ...
NB: if Kent gets injured, we`d then only have Hastie there as straight cover, Well ...
At a glance Rotherham look like they're playing well.
They're sitting 2nd in League 1. I've no idea however, if that was expected at the start of the season or not.
Nor how much influence (if any) Hastie has had in that.

Merry Christmas folks.
Here's hoping our best of 2019 is our worst of 2020.

It was a pie.
It's up to Aberdeen, the SFA and/or the Police to take action, if they see fit.
Rangers make statements which are roundly ignored by the press, so I'm not sure what good the club could do.
Our club and fans are treated differently to others. Going tonto on a football forum won't change that.
The sheep are a nonentity. Don't give them the attention.
It's completely unacceptable. What if the pie burnt Tavernier? Or got in his eye?
Rangers should call it out.

My sources (the published annual accounts) tell me that the club needs £10 million and that Dave King has agreed to fund it.
Other sources (the published AGM agenda) tell me that the directors are seeking the authority to have a share issue.
Pretty much this.
Any of the other talk. I'll believe it, when I see it.

Getting him is a quite a coup for the club.

I think Tavernier's contributions to the team, far outweighs his occasional errors.
I believe on our day we're better than Young Boys and think we'll beat them at home.

It was a 30 yarder all the way.

Really got to the point where I couldn't care less when Scotland are playing.
The last 2 Scottish games I went to. Wasn't to see Scotland it was to see Hazard and Ronaldo (who didn't play).
I only watched last night because I had a bet on Belgium and I switched off when it came up.

I thought St Mirren would come out when we scored. But didn't.
From where I was sitting. I got the impression Gerrard wanted Kamara or Jack to overload the centre and have Barasic and Tavernier overlap on the wings.
We didn't do that in the first half possibly because of the sun as Helander seemed to have difficulty with high balls he had to attack. But when we did it at the start of the second half it led to the goal.
1 -
I think if we qualify for the Europa League we may well get Kent and another striker. If we don't, I don't see Kent happening.
2 -
Barasic is an enigma.
He hardly (if ever) goes past the last man to cross the ball and he just pings the same diagonal ball in over and over again.
It's frustrating as he's clearly a player, from watching him play for Osijek or Croatia.

I like Lafferty if he can screw the nut.
We clearly thought he'd turned a corner but he admits in the interview he let himself down and some of the other stupidity he got up to when he re-signed is why he is gone.

The board's hands are tied with regards to transparency. It's an ongoing court case, so they can only say so much.
I'm in the, "It doesn't look good but let's not panic yet.", camp.
As am i. But (and tinfoil hat time) i'm concerned that some of the statements from fan groups are coming via the board adding to the confusion.
2 -
On the face of it this seems pretty serious and looks like it could be very costly for us. I'm not sure it is quite as catastrophic as some outlets are implying but all the same.
I'm getting concerned some our fans groups seem to be going down the fake news route and everything is gravy.
The board need to be straight with the fans.

I love this video of Defoe from his time in MLS. He clearly wanted to take the free kick and was pissed off he didn't get to take it. Gilberto then fires it in and Defoe's reaction is priceless.
