  1. Lifted from FF re Senderos

    cwoodloyal View Post

Apparently another club has matched our terms. He wants to sign for us but is getting pissed off with all the delay from our side.

Bit of a contradiction from the Calderwood Loyal (who is often wrong). Another club has matched our 'terms'? But he is fed up with the delay from our side? What delay from our side if we have offered him 'terms'? Big pinch of salt from me with regards to yet another FF 'scoop'.

  2. Genuinely hope this isn't a panic signing. He hasn't played that many games over the past few seasons & has gone from club to club quite frequently. Never a good sign is it?

Warburton, Weir and McParland don't do panic signings. Take a look at how many forums etc are saying "why is it taking so long"? Is it a panic signing or MW taking too long? The guy can't win.

  3. I read the OP as asking how far we are away from them in general. In that sense I believe we are still quite a bit behind. Their resources far exceed our own. If it's asking can we beat them next time we play, then yes, of course. In the same way any team can beat another in a one-off game.

"I must admit to have been feeling a bit doom and gloom about us going to the San Giro. Then I watched that tonight...................." I think its pretty clear what I was saying. I know fine any team can win a one off game. As clearly stated i was merely expressing how my state of mind about the game had changed. Nothing more, nothing less.

  4. I watched their match last night and assume they were at full strength.

They were pitiful. They have the look of eleven guys all playing for themselves with no plan at work. That's hardly surprising Brenda always struck me as one of those guys who just happened to get lucky. He'll stagger around from club to club leaving wreckage in his wake for as long as he's a manager.

Celtic were garbage last night there is no other word for it.

My expectations have risen after seeing that defence.

    My whole point exactly!

  5. I must admit to have been feeling a bit doom and gloom about us going to the San Giro. Then I watched that tonight. A team that played very similar to us when we get our act together, like the SC semi final. The Israelis moved the ball quickly switching flanks constantly and Selik couldn't get a look in. Not a sniff!! 65% possession to HBS at last count. They have been shown tonight against no more than a decent side how good the really are - bang average. "Broonie back to his brilliant best" according to our hacks??? Don't make me laugh. He was woeful. 2-0 and a missed penalty!! The Selik fans over there probably missed most of it because of all those Palestinian flags they were waving obscuring their vision........no wait a minute.

I could have chosen any game we played at a very good level. Its pretty minor in relation to the actual point!!

  6. Time to forget the SC semi. Sure we "played them off the park" but scored only twice and so did they. Anything can happen at penalties and sure enough they had a flukey miss.

Are you really suggesting that the OP is 'harping on' about the SC semi? Read it again. At no point does it suggest anything other than we played well and matched them. This post is about us compared to them. What is the relevance of the SC final to this post?

  7. After watching our first three league games of this he season I have to urge caution about the OP.

Yes you don't want to get caught up in that 'positive' thing, Better watch what I'm doing. You know what happens to people who think positive............

Rab, read the OP mate, and the others. Yes - we are no world beaters. But they are bang average is the point I'm making.

  8. The one thing I would say on DB's post is we must start with as many hardened characters as possible. For me the ones that will show mental steel are - Miller (no question), Wallace, Barton, Halliday, Forrester (caught up in it though maybe?), Rossitter (yes despite his age). Krancjar (although he wont start). McKay (I think). Dodoo (so much to prove and no fear). Jason Holt and Windass (wont be fit unfortunately).

Doubts about? Foderingham, Tavernier, Wilson, Keirnan, (pretty much whole back line, although I could be totally wrong!).

  9. It is all wait and see, I'm afraid. We sure have to find our feet in the league, and likewise, we have to incorporate quite a few of our 10 newbies. If you imagine that we probably got in better players, plus those who already had an OF experience, the omens look good. But if there is one thing I have learned about OF games these last 35 years or so, you can hardly predict them.

I am in fact more concerned about the behaviour of the screaming Hooped Horrors when they see us at their pit, and how our folk, on and off the field, will deal with it.

This is purely on a football sense. So, all due respect DB, hopefully we can steer clear of turning it into their 'hordes' discussion. Although i agree with you.

  10. I must admit to have been feeling a bit doom and gloom about us going to the San Giro. Then I watched that tonight. A team that played very similar to us when we get our act together, like the SC semi final. The Israelis moved the ball quickly switching flanks constantly and Selik couldn't get a look in. 11. It was a real bit of slack passing and control between Barton and Rossitter that left our whole right flank exposed for the goal. Tav had pushed forward because we were in no danger and were in complete control of the ball until the two of them fluffed their lines.

  12. I think we miss wee Jason Holt more than we realise. His runs into the box 'under the radar' into scoring positions gave us a different dimension at times last season. I think back to the crucial 4-2 win in the Christmas fixture against Hibs, where we were 1-0 down and passing the ball to death, with no end result, until the wee man took over.

  13. I can't possibly know that, but I tend to go with (what I think is) common sense. Hill, Lescott and Senderos? I don't think so.

We could also end up with neither, as we are now 'hanging out our washing in public'. "Senderos is fit? He's trained with Rangers? He's going for peanuts? Let's take the risk as backup"

  14. It's fair to say Brenda has waved a magic wand since he came up here, but we have the magic hat.

The coming months will be very interesting to say the least.

IMHO he is experiencing what lots of new managers (with half decent man management skills) experience - his honeymoon period. Tougher times will lie ahead. Soon enough he will experience what we have had to endure - teams sussing you out and parking the bus. Then we will see how he gets on. As for the £20m, Rodgers could squander that in no time to no great effect. Lets wait and see.
